You know what's funny is I really wanted Favre to start as our QB in '08. I think by around midseason, it became clear that even though Favre was having a spectacular year (at the time), Aaron has become just as good and the QB position was NOT the problem.

I was sold on Aaron and became a huge fan of his while still rooting for Favre to do well with the Jets.

I'm really wondering if people who study football still see Aaron as the problem with the Packers. The big problem is obviously our DL. Our OL is the second problem. MM also won't go for the throat and that's another problem. I really think if we had the MM of '07 instead of the kinder, gentler MM of '08, Aaron would have thrown 30+ TDs in '08.

Well the Rodgers skeptics shouldn't be answering this, it should be all the people praising him. You people are the same ones that claim that Rodgers is better than Collins, Flacco, and Ryan because they are system qbs. They do what is asked of them and and win games, but yet it wasn't them it was either the defense that won the game or it was the running game. I could care less what kind of a qb they are they lead there teams to Wins and thats all that counts. You can have a qb throw for 6,000 yards 50 tds with a 4-12 record and a qb that throws for 2600 yards and 13 tds but the team finishes 12-4, I would be more than happy with the latter qb because he does whats asked of him and he wins.

Btw this wasn't meant to cut down Rodgers (but i'm sure a few of you will read it that way) just meant to say i would want a qb that does what it takes to win games.

there's nothing wrong with a system quarterback. my definition of a system QB is one who fits well in the offensive scheme. In my opinion, if you are an effective offensive coordinator, you will work to make sure you have a system QB.

I can't speak for the others, but speaking for myself, I can say that is a gross mischaracterization of my argument. I claim Rodgers is better than Collins, Flacco, and Ryan because his output was objectively better. But for those of you who say "the only statistic that matters is wins and losses" and "stats don't matter," that argument falls on deaf ears, so the discussion goes nowhere.
