We still have a nice salary cap cushion it wouldn't be bad to frontload a deal and get it done. He may choose to gamble on himself and play out the year like Cobb did which worries me.

When the time comes we'll have certain folks applauding Ted Thompson for sticking to his guns and not going over his number so if he does leave we did the "right thing". Say what the right thing is right now. Don't watch it play out and then claim whatever happens was the right thing.

Daniels wants 10 million per? If he has a huge season I say give it to him...Peppers money will be off the books and he won't be back with us.

Answer the question all you... we have the best GM in the worlders who can't get it wrong no matter what happens.

Right now our org is saying NO...10 million is way too much. You like that or not? Put it out there.

I already put out there the contract that Mike Daniels WILL sign. No hyperbole, just facts from source Miss Cleo.

Where is the list of promising young players that Ted Thompson screwed up on by not renewing/ extending? Why is there an assumption that he will fail? What player left the Packers after his first contract and amounted to anything?

Remember when Ted Thompson let Wahle and Rivera leave? Rivera only lasted 2 years and Wahle didn't set the world on fire.

Barbre, Giacomini, Flynn, Colledge, Jackson, Walden, there are more. Which of them went on to be a dominant player anywhere?

There is a greater likelihood of UU moving out of his parents basement than there is of Ted Thompson letting a young stud go.

the team talking extension with him in the first place to me is a good sign they would like to keep him. the only question is how much is he worth and how much can the team afford. A lot will depend on his snap count and production this year with BJ back and the rest of the rotation. He was getting extra snaps last year because of BJ being out, I'd expect his numbers to decline some this year based on that alone.

Ted doesn't negotiate. He tells the player's agent that number. If they wanna go elsewhere, they're free to test the market. Like James Jones did. Like Cliffy did. Like Jenkins and Jennings did.

Ted will not overpay. But he WILL give a guy what he believes that guy is worth.

Did any of you happen to notice, this was a quote from an "executive in personnel" from some other team? JSOnline and God damned McGinn in particular are really annoying when they keep coming up with crap from these other team sources.

I'm not the biggest fan of Thompson, but I'm confident he will retain Daniels so long as the price doesn't get totally ridiculous. R E L A X, People.

Cam Heyward just signed for 9.9M per, so w/ inflation its easy to understand why MD is asking for 10+ and why Pack should be able to keep him for 8.5-9 per.

Good for us: GMs dont like to spend big bucks on guys that dont possess some outstanding physical trait/traits or that have limiting traits. They fear the guy's production is related to system as opposed to talent.

Bad for us is like Tex said, not only Mcguinn's unnamed sources; but the agent's unnamed sources: like the unnamed [Seattle] source saying MD is worth 15M per; unnamed [Lions] source saying 20M per; an the unnamed [Bear] source who makes a fist sticking his pinky in the corner of his mouth saying, one hundred million dollars.

I'll bet we'll simply have to endure MD testing the market like Shields, Bulaga and Cobb. This will give us a chance to see how the youngins [Ringo, Jones, Pennell, etc] improve and if we sign Daniels too cheap, you might have a Kam Chancellor anyway.
