In looking at James 1.8 mil cap hit... he has 362k cap charge if we cut him if he hasn't already achieved his roster bonus of 225k, but I believe he has to make the roster, but I'm unclear on that.

So cutting him clears about 1.45 million....

A guy like Alonzo Harris is 400k against our cap. We'd net a mil if we got rid of James and went with Harris. In fact, his total 3 year deal is what James charge for this year is.

I remain convinced if the gap isn't clear that James is really on the bubble here.

I don't see Starks as similar to Lacy at all. Completely different type of runner, and much faster.

HE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE!

Gordan was a great college back who still has to prove he can make it in The NFL.

The real battle to watch is for the #3 spot.

The guy that learns the playbook, excells at blocking and contribute on ST's will be the one who makes the final 53.

They lined by Neal at a receiver in practice today which they have done with Starks before. He caught a deep ball over Richardson for 35 yards. Interesting... 🙂

Curious to see if any of our other backs get shots with the 1st OL. The one(s) who do are the ones that have a shot to displace James.

I'm on the Neal bandwagon over Starks.

What do you think would happen to James if he had to play FULL TIME if Lacy went down. How good would his number of games played look? Ironically, the 13 and 16 came AFTER Lacy arrived and he didn't have to be counted on.

The best argument is to say Neal got hurt last year so he might be no better than Starks in that arena, but at least he'd be a mil cheaper.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
