This was a quote from paranerd a few topics down the list from Packersnews.com:

(The dreaded THUMBS DOWN was given to Davante)

Part of the perception probably is skewed by expectations, but it’s hard not to conclude that third-round draft pick Ty Montgomery has been the better playmaker early in camp. And one play involving Adams on Tuesday was a little jarring: cornerback Sam Shields’ leaping interception of a Rodgers throw on a go route.

Shields made an exceptional play, but one of Adams’ assets is his physical strength going after those kind of throws. On that play, he didn’t attack the ball like you’d expect and thus never had a shot at the catch or at least pass breakup.

The smart money says Adams will be the player the Packers were so excited about in June — he’s a highly confident receiver whom Rodgers lauds for already carrying himself like a star. But he’s due for a banner day on the practice field.

--My perception was never skewed as I never thought that much of Davante to begin with. Not much of a shock Montgomery is outplaying him to me.

As soon as Janis takes over the league, they'll both be expendable.

Back to serious, the WR hype in TC is usually an accurate gauge of what to expect. Jennings had it. Murphy had it. Freeman had it. RC18 had it. Good to see Montgomery is the darling this year...no small feat outdoing the MVP of OTA's in Davante Adams and playing catchup no less as a rookie is really exciting.

If Montgomery is what they say he is and that's not such a big if to me just due to my overall blase thoughts on Adams... He could be our 3rd WR. Davante would make a fine 4th and Janis a fine 5th or they could flipflop Davante and JJ.

Part of me wonders if Ted Thompson ponies up the dough he did for RC18 had he had known he would get Montgomery and he would be the player he appears to be so far?

The thing I like about this is fans are forced to come to one of two conclusions, if this is true...

1) Davante Adams has been well overhyped

or

2) Ty Montgomery is going to be a mega superstar

Clearly, I'm going with the first option. Koolaid toters might go with #2.

There is nothing special about Davante Adams. He may have the confidence and personality of a star but that doesn't make him one. I want Davante to be successful but I also want his hype train totally derailed now because it's going to happen and it may as well be sooner rather than later so I don't have to hear this maddening din of his greatness which is a bit comical.

I'm excited to see Montgomery with the ball in his hands in short yardage situations. On 3rd and 3.. I can see a quick flick to him ( a lot like the plays we see on 1st and 10) and watch him go 1 on 1 breaking a tackle to get a first and maybe a huge gainer. Really hoping he poses a matchup nightmare. Putting a small guy on him may become outdated quickly and if they have to move up a bigger but slower safety hopefully we can exploit that by running him past him.

Sad that it's still early... the guy could completely fizzle but sounding exciting right now.

I'm noticing I don't really get hyped for anyone in particular anymore. All a part of trying not to get too high or too low as a fan.

Or #4 all of the above.

Gotta wait for Preseason games for WRs.

They know no one is gonna hit them in practice! Monty had drop and fumbles under fire in college; suddenly in practice he's the 2nd coming of Fred Bilitnekoff. That's great; but it don't mean a thing until he can hang on under live fire.
