my thoughts?

Why the ____ is there a Vikings QB being honored at lambeau?

I hope they put his name in the ring of honor.... just to take it off again.

I didn't watch the whole thing live all I saw was his speech to the crowd and his acceptance speech or whatever you want to call it. I didn't see any of the other speakers. I haven't had time to look for the rest of it but I would like to see it.

I thought both his speeches were pretty darn good. I liked the stories from the past. I don''t have a problem with the lack of an apology because IMO there is really nothing to apologize for. I would have liked to seen at least some sort of acknowledgement to Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy as the current coach (not just his QB coach) but as Zero said this was about his days in Green Bay.

He probably still holds something against Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy and if he does so what. I'm sure lots of players don't like every one of their coaches or team mates. I don't think he holds any ill will towards the organization or the fans and in the end that is what matters to me. Lots of players leave teams and don't become the rah rah cheerleaders that fans would like them to be.

you must be young or you are very old and have a very short memory. This QB won 3 consecutive MVP awards, went to back to back Super Bowls, and oh yeah he play 16 years for us when others had 16 other qbs during that same time span. Ya Ya Ya he played for the Vikes but he was also traded away to the Jets as a business move and so in ways I knew would happen Favre made his own business decision to play for the vikes.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I'm with you that he needs to do some "go pack go" stuff, I just think at HIS jersey retirement ceremony and HIS induction to the Packers Hall of Fame is an inappropriate time to do it. I do see where you're coming from, I while watching the full five hours didn't really see an unforced time for it. I really wish there would have been more stories shared from his 16 years. That was what I really wanted to hear.

Based on what Brett's said, I won't hold my breath on him coming back to town any time soon.

One of those "address the problem don't just ignore it and hope it goes away" type of situations. If he had time to thank all of the individuals he did, he could have paid a little lip service to the current leader of the organization. At least if he wants to be an integral part of the Packers in the near future. As you alluded to, perhaps that's not what he is looking for. That's all good too, but I think it would be nice. But if he does want that, there can't be any bad blood between Favre, Thompson, McCarthy, or Rodgers, imo.

Am I being nit-picky? Sure. But I just hope both sides are completely over the past and don't hold any ill-will. I really don't think Ted Thompson does, but I haven't been convinced that Brett doesn't. If he actually doesn't, it doesn't seem inappropriate to pay some lip-service here and there. Maybe that will happen in the future. But from my perspective, he missed a good opportunity to do so.

I listened to Leroy Butler on the radio the day after, and he said he would have liked to have heard Favre apologize to the fans for his part in the breakup.
I agree, that would have been nice to hear.

It was a day that needed to happen.. I think the 67K that showed up showed proper respect to his impact upon the franchise.

Will it ever be the same between the Packers and Favre? Probably not.. but it can still be good, in time. He moves the needle yet... people still remember watching the ultimate gambler on the field go balls out all the time to be a success.

Having the relationship start to repair is a good thing for the Packers in terms of things off the field.

What I hope is that most of this is now removed from the media as a talking point, folks can be less focused on the rift and the media stops with the Favre watch type on nonsense.

In simple terms:
1. It seemed Brett was humbled and very appreciative regards the fan support
2. He loves everything regards the Packers
3. Except this administration

Hopefully as time goes on everything will be whole and both sides can fully appreciate each other.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

As Mark Murphy said, the relationship between the Packers and Favre may not be fully healed, but this started the healing process. I think that's the most important part. It has to start somewhere, but it may still take some time. It may not ever be good until Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson retire.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
