Started with Bob Harlan then Ron Wolf and then Mike Holmgren. That's where it started. Brett Favre and Reggie White followed.

It was great times. I started really following the Packers in '89 then few years later boom pow awesome sauce.

Favre deserves every accolade he receives, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend like 2009 and 2010 didn't happen. The hypocrisy of this fan base (like many) can easily be glossed over, but I seriously wonder how many of those people who were cheering for Favre in the stands yesterday were booing him back when he played for Minnesota when they came to town back then, burned his jersey, and got in on the "We'll Never Forget You Brent" meme that was rolling around the internet at the time. I was 100% in our front office's camp back in '08 when the whole divorce happened and have not waivered once on my feelings Ted Thompson made the right decision in trading him even if it did end up eventually allowing Favre to play for the Vikings.

I'm not going to downplay the 16 years Favre gave Green Bay. His stats, MVPs. achievements, and ring speak for themselves. Through good or bad, you know he gave it his all every week he suited up for the team. He was one major piece in a set of events and people that helped reset a franchise for the modern era that had been in disarray for a quarter century and helped spark a resurgence that has carried on to this day.

I also won't forget the Vicodin addiction, his retirement waffling for consecutive seasons that basically held the franchise hostage, the teary "retirement" only to change his mind at the last minute while the Packers were getting Aaron ready to play and lead to a very messy and public divorce from the team, sending dick picks to Ms. Sturger which I'm sure his wife wasn't too thrilled about, and his "retirement" from the Jets so he could go sign with Minnesota so he could finally "stick it" to Green Bay.

Call me a hater or whatever you like, but my emotions yesterday were very mixed. Time can heal some wounds and everything that is happening with him now was inevitable, but I'm not going to sit here and blindly cheer him like he did actually retire after 2007 and just gloss over everything he did afterward like it didn't matter. I cheered against him each of those 4 games he played against the Packers. I cheered against him in the in the '09 NFCCG when he threw that almost inevitable playoff killing INT and eventual FG that sent the Saints to the Super Bowl and the Vikings to another heart crushing playoff loss. I also felt a small sense of vindication as I watched Aaron hoist that SB trophy in 2010 knowing Minnesota had missed the playoffs, all the haters and Packer "fans" who jumped on Favre's bandwagon back the previous years and cheered for him while in New York or Minnesota and rooted against GB, who spit nothing but vitriol and hatred towards TT, MM, and Aaron for sending their lord and savior packing were proven once and for all wrong. That was a bit of poetic justice to me.

At the end of the day, I don't root for the individual player. I root for the colors, jersey, city, and franchise. Favre gave GB 16 great years, but the subsequent things he did in the following three after he left GB soured his legacy for me personally some. I'm happy he's back in the fold as a legend and will be treated as such going forward, but I won't sit here and pretend it was all gum drops and ice cream and there weren't a few bumps along the path to get there and why it took this long for this all to finally come together.

But I'm also capable of accepting things for what they were and are, mostly forgiving, and moving on. That's not "hypocrisy." That's the more mature and balanced thing to do. I'm not going to hold some kind of grudge, especially over football and in a situation that really has nothing to do with me personally, other than being an outside fan that none of the Packers even know exist.

I do think Brett could have at least gave a shout out to Ted Thompson and Aaron Rodgers more. Even if it was just something like, "I'm so happy for what you guys have going on and I wish you all the success in the world. Let's win another championship this season!" That was disappointing to me if all is truly forgiven and if he want to be a part of the organization going forward.

His props to Ron Wolf also seemed to minimize what Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy, and Aaron Rodgers have done. Their recent success is because of them and the current team. That shouldn't be minimized. You don't have to minimize one factions contributions to give credit to the other. Favre likely still holds some grudge against Thompson.

Favre was what he was and is what he is. No more and no less. This is what should be celebrated not some hysterical figment of greatness or evil.

I hear Favre snippets from time to time, he said the other day "the numbers speak for themselves." Its agreed. The numbers are as follows:

Prior to his arrival GB stunk.

He was an iron man and accumulated HOF stats in TDs, yards and completions.

He became the only decent or better QB whose INT rate went way up as he gained experience. This dedication to the INT removed consistency from his game. This inconsistency single-handedly killed seasons and caused him to be 100% incapable of stringing together multiple good playoff games. He was Jay Cutler before there was a Jay Cutler.

Finally, hate for Ted Thompson and MM became the impetus that created the Montana-thinking stud we envisioned the young gunslinger to become his last 10 years in GB; going to the playoffs every year and giving us at least 5 SB appearances, winning at least 3.

A number that speaks for itself is the number of women that have publicly announced his harassment of them.

Again, Favre was what he was and is what he is. No more and no less.

The HOF-bound thrower, great QB for one year, skirt hound, egocentric, pathological liar didn't mature as a QB until the 11.5th hour of his football life; perhaps he'll mature as an honorable man of class on the 11.5th hour of his actual life.

Question: during the ceremony how many times did he begin a sentence using "I"? Bet it reached sociopathic limits.

Great insight from every member who posted on this topic.

However, I feel. Brett sits at home hoping Aaron throws a pick every time he takes a snap, and the Packers lose every single week.

I can see him... Sitting... In front of his 80 inch Sony 4K Smart OHDTV. Shorts on, flip flops resting on an ottoman, beer in his hand, mumbling... "Fuck Rodgers, and Fuck Ted."

It sums it up quite nicely and the fact that Ted would send congratulatory texts to Brett after accomplishments, including beating the Packers two times.
