Packers TE Andrew Quarless was arrested in Miami Saturday morning after allegedly firing a gun twice into the ground during an altercation.

Quarless tried to flee the scene, but he was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in public, which is a first-degree misdemeanor with penalties of up to one year in jail in Florida. No matter what happens in the legal system, Quarless is likely to face a significant suspension from the NFL. Nothing more than a mediocre talent, Quarless' days with the Packers could be finished.

Wow, idiot.

I agree, he could be gone after this. Hope Perillo's ready, because Backman's a rookie. Can we get Bostick back? Nah forget that. LOL

He was the best we had especially at blocking. Way to go Plaxico, Q. Way to follow your coaches edict of staying safe this offseason.

Where's Colt Lyerla when you need him? 🙂 TE cupboard that was already bare just got barer. Oh, but he was about to become Gronk. So sad. 😞

Quarless wasn't going to beat Richard Rodgers out at TE1 and was only a contributor on special teams. Quarless will not be released because of this. Unless there is more to the story, which of course we will find out soon enough.

If the Packers signed Jermaine Gresham and released Quarless, I wouldn't be upset.

EDIT: One full season for Plax and that was back then but it did run concurrently with his prison term. This should be no small deal in today's NFL. I think Quarless is done in Green Bay most likely.

If I remember correctly, Plaxico discharged a weapon in a public venue in a state with very strict gun laws. I am left to assume Quarless discharged his gun outside and into a ground, not a person (albeit Plaxico shot himself) therefore the situations are vastly different and have no worth being mentioned.

According to the parking attendant, Quarless and another man — identified as Michael Ritchie, a 31-year-old from New York — were leaving the garage in a black Porsche Panamera when they approached a white car filled with several women. An argument ensued, with the attendant hearing the women yell "No, get away, leave me alone!"

That's when Quarless took out a semi-automatic handgun — ID'd by police as a .45 caliber weapon — and fired two shots, one straight up into the sky. Why? When police later interviewed a woman in Quarless' car, she said he'd fired "in an attempt to emphasize his dominance and manhood."

Really not looking good.  The statement is backed up by the parking attendant and also his attempt to flee and hide the gun. A veteran should know better.

I wouldn't care if he were a hall of fame caliber player, irresponsible gun owners belong in jail.
I don't know enough details about the incident (was he warding off attackers?) but if this is as bad as it initially sounds, then GONE.

If it turns out this was self-defense and he chose to fire into the ground instead of into a person, then I hope he simply learns not to put himself in a position like that.

Wasn't he a hot commodity early last year in our FFL?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ted bring someone in if Quarless ends up gone.

From Gresham's point of view, what could be better than Aaron Rodgers throwing to you and a significant chance of going to the Super Bowl?
