I'm going to agree that TE is the weakest unit on the offensive side.

Quarless Rodgers and Perillo return , then there are the new guys:
Spears,Henry, and Backman.'

Unless they make a huge impression at TC, Spears and Henry are just camp bodies.

Backman Needs to work on his blocking, he has good speed and above average hands.

He will make the tteam, biggest impact probably on ST's his rookie year.

Perillo needs to get healthy and on the field or he may find himself unemployed or watching from the PS another year.
UDFA who will get another year(if healthy) to show what he has.

Some forget The Packers won a Super Bowl with Andrew Quarless as their #1 TE.

Until last year Quarless was either injured or in the shadow of Jermicheal Finely.

He comes into the 2015 season playing in the final year of his 2nd contract.

Probably his last with Green Bay,

Quarless stays healthy, he will once again be the best blocking TE, and hopefully show the talent he showed before his leg injury.

Richard Rodgers, possibly the best hands on the team(according to that other Rodgers guy).

Lost the #1 job to Quarless in 2014 because of his blocking skills.
Regained it, later as he showed improvement.
Imagine that a rookie who showed development.

RR, is primed to have a break out season.

What does that mean playing for The Packers in 2015?

A team that is loaded with talent at every other skill position.

A team whose interior front 5 are one of the best AS A UNIT.

Probably means Rodgers will have a better year in 2015 , than he did in 2014.

That's all anyone can ask for.

Rodgers Is not
Gronk and he is not Graham, of course he doesn'. Cost 10mil a year!

I think Aaron Rodgers is just fine throwing to Richard Rodgers!

Keeping QB1 happy is more important than adding an overpaid Diva TE.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

Finley had 12 targets his rookie season. Rodgers had 30. Let's see if RR takes the jump in production JF did. I'll guess he doesn't because he'll be "battling" with our other "star" TE whom 12 praised at OTA's.

Nobody has forgotten we won the SB with Quarless at TE. So, this means we should be okay with junk from the TE position? No. That position should be improved and I'm not sure RR is any better than Q. I'd ask Barfarn if he did a special project study on Q and how he compared to RR. I can't imagine there would be much of a difference between the two. Ah, but one was a rookie and the other a vet? This is year 2...let's see what our two HOF receiving options have for us with all this offseason talk which is reminiscent of Vikings fan talk in the offseason. Always big bold and very loud only to be quieted once real football starts. Let's see if that happens with RR and DA.

BTW... As to not misrepresent Barfarn, this statement will be something I think of often over the upcoming season. It's really not that far from the RR is Gronk talk.

The stats cited reflect that Rodgers will be as dangerous as Ed West blocking and Finley receiving once this comes together; that is stellar.

---I can't tell you how crazy I think the above statement is. The "stats" showed RR had a horrific year. Stats like measurables can't really be extrapolated. I wish they could...Janis would be all the things Nerd says I think of him.

Gronk has 2" on him and did 23 reps at the combine to RR's 14. Heck, Janis did 20 reps. There is no outstanding attribute in Richard Rodgers.

Oh, and that speed RR doesn't have... Gronk ran 4.68...RR ran 4.87 (that's DE territory) A guy two inches taller weighing 265 can outrun our guy by almost two tenths of a second. One guy is a nightmare to try and tackle the other not so much.

When Gronk was out for NE did the other TE come in and have the same productivity because he had the same kind of opportunity? Nope. Why? No TE is like Gronkowski. Richard Rodgers in NE would be about as significant as he is here in Green Bay. The statement quoted is more kool aid talk that it's known can never be proven so it's safer to type.

Don't get me wrong, RR has some potential to him, but I can't imagine what you've seen that made you think that Rodgers would be a guy that averages 5 catchers and 67 yards per game, puts up a 90 catch, 1320 yard season or is near unblockable in a load of situations.

Even if he pans out the way we hope, I don't think he'll be one of the top TEs in the league. He might make a reliable weapon, who can also help in the running game, but I've yet to see anything that shows that he can become a true playmaker.

As to the original topic, I agree... And I don't see it as that big a problem. There's not a team in the league that doesn't have holes. Having that hole at TE might be the best position for us to be weak it. It's a problem you can pretty easily disguise by going with more WR sets... One of our biggest strengths. Then add Kuhn who can do a bit of everything and Starks who can catch and run and I feel pretty comfortable about our receiving cast as a whole.

Davante= 70+ receptions
RR= 50+ receptions

That equals 120 receptions right there.

Aaron Rodgers has about 350 completions per season when he plays a full 16.

That leaves 230 completions to spread around between Nelson, Cobb, Lacy and everyone else.

Nelson, Cobb and Lacy tallied 231 receptions last season...if we add in the expected 120 from Davante and RR that equal 351. The most completions Rodgers ever amassed is 371. With Lacy in the backfield and us running it more, the completion number of 350 looks to be about as high as he's going to go.

I expect our 20 million dollar duo to get close to 200 receptions between them if they stay healthy which is unlikely, again. If we add in the numbers nerd has for Davante and Rodgers that means Lacy stays at 40 receptions, and Montgomery, Abby, Janis and everyone else gets ZERO.

Lacy's numbers in the passing game should go up. Davante is a wildcard...what will his numbers do? Should go up but how much?

Don't see much for RR because there is no reason to throw to a mildly talented TE when you have the WR corps we have and Lacy as well. Plus, we're going to run it more and more with Lacy which reduces pass attempts decreasing the number of potential receptions.

And once again Uffda has hijacked another thread to stroke his own ego and talk negative about The Green Bay Packers.

HEY UFFDA THERE IS A NEW THREAD STARTED SBOUT TED THOMPSONS SUCCESS, HURRY HURRY HURRY , YOU DON'T WANT REAL PACKER FANS TO DOMINATE IT TOO LONG!

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!
Fan Shout
Zero2Cool (2h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (3h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (17h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (17h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
