I know who was here...we are draft and develop. I think it was proven Warner would've been far better to develop than Wuerffel, oops, I mean Detmer.

Teams don't always make the right decisions. I hope Janis at least gets a fair opportunity to showcase himself.

Hopefully, it is understood exactly why I'm so high on Janis. It isn't as though he's just some run of the mill track guy. He is a very rare breed. Guys like him don't come along often with his measurables in totality. He is a true...FREAK...a word that is thrown around far too often for guys who aren't. This guy is.

That freak showed his freakishness in St. Louie. Wow, baby. Just wow...don't care who it was against. You could see the V-12 that Davante spoke of...pure speed. I have lamented for years we do not ever have a player on our roster who just puts fear into the heart of the defense at WR. We need a field stretcher. Now, we've drafted someone like that in Montgomery who doesn't have near the speed of double J. Perhaps, we drafted Montgomery to bring that dimension as Janis is not trustworthy enough to deliver it.

Jeff Janis is now in Packers lore forever one way the other.

We'll see how Janis does. Btw, guys like him DO come around fairly often. It's just rare when they can also play football.

Here's Ourlads Top 3 WR's the year Janis came out based on OSR:

WIDE RECEIVERS
1 Cooks, Brandin Oregon State
2 Janis, Jeff Saginaw Valley State
3 Beckham, Odell LSU

Davante Adams? 27th ranked...not much special there.

Pretty interesting that 2 of those 3 had big impacts on their teams. We had one of those 3 very special talents and garaged him while trotting out a guy who wasn't anywhere near as special. Of course, 2 of those guys were 1st rounders and the SVSU guy went in the 7th.

Methodology:

For each position below, we have ranked the players listed by a special Ourlads’ formula we call OSR (Ourlads Statistical Rating). Each workout field is weighted to the importance of the position – i.e.: for quarterbacks – height, the short shuttle, 3 cone drill, and Wonderlic test are the most important. Broad jump, vertical jump, 40-yard dash, and 20-yard dash are also important, but not as important as the first four mentioned. For defensive linemen – emphasis is put on the 10-yard dash (shows first step explosion), short shuttle (shows change of direction quickness), and bench press (for upper body strength), then the height, weight, and speed, etc. These are all tools for evaluation, but nothing takes the place of game day productivity. Some athletes are listed at more than one position. Those who are listed under "Did not work out:" may have completed some drills, but not the ones used in the ratings for that position.
Phil Hepler, our top research and statistical analysis scout, provides our readers with our positional statistical rating that we include in the player reports. Phil's complete formula, however, will remain sealed along with Colonel Sanders' fried chicken recipe.

Here's Ourlads Top 3 WR's the year Randall Cobb came out based on OSR:

WIDE RECEIVERS
1 Jones, Julio Alabama
2 Smith, Torrey Maryland
3 Gates, Edmond Abilene Christian

Randall Cobb? 34th ranked...not much special there.

Pretty interesting that 2 of those 3 had big impacts on their teams. We chose to draft and trot out a guy (Cobb) who wasn't anywhere near as special. We could have drafted a special player like Edmond Clyde Gates.

The funny thing about what you did up there is Gates went to the Jets...good luck succeeding there. What a great QB situation he went to.

Julio played with Ryan and Torrey got Wacko Flacco.

Janis and Adams BOTH have Rodgers. We shall see how ol' dub J plays when he gets his chance.

You will never know how Gates would've performed in our system.

We will probably get another chance when the Titans cut him this spring, but of course Ted won't go after a free agent.

Guys with a #27 or #34 "OSR rating" are a dime a dozen. Guys with a "TOP 3 OSR rating" only come around once a year!! We could be showcasing two "TOP 3 OSR rating" WRs in our system by starting Janis and Clyde Gates. Instead we continue to trot out mediocre nothing special #34 rated Cobb and #27 rated Davante Adams.

I want to see players who can play football. Davante Adams and Randall Cobb can play football regardless of what the "OSR rating" says. I hope Jeff Janis can play football.
