The draft-and-develop Green Bay Packers have surely produced as a team. Year-in and year-out they are Super Bowl contenders and this year will be no different. Only the Seattle Seahawks have better betting odds to win it all than the Packers. When you look at the Packers game-changers there are any number that jump out [...]

I thought they were adequate during the 2nd half last year.

One thing that pisses me off though: any time Clay leaves the field we see a complete and total collapse. That's bullshit man. Hold it together bitches. Don't be so reliant on one guy.

I tend to disagree about the "every time Clay leaves the field ..." thing. The defense had a fair amount of great moments other than Clay, and a lot of average to above average play.

I also tend to disagree with the premise that draft and develop got us such a consistently great team. The rare foray into free agency to get Peppers made a huge difference - taking the Packers D from a little below average to a little above average. Shields, who was developed but not drafted, was probably also in the top 3 D players.

The reason the team is Great, though, is pure and simple, AARON RODGERS. With our D, our O Line, our Receivers, our RBs, plus a mediocre QB, the Packers are a mediocre team. With Rodgers, all those other things can range from a little below average to above average, and the Packers are GREAT.

For the Packers Defense to step-up they will need to first climb out of the hole. TT's poor performance will be self evident by week 6 of the upcoming season.

I just question the premise of the article that draft and develop would have gotten us there if not for AARON RODGERS.

One thing that bugs me about Capers' defenses is they always seem so fragile. There is so much difference between how they look during a bad game and a good game that it's just ridiculous. There's never a consistent performance level. They will have a really good series of games then just get embarrassingly destroyed in the next or they will completely dominate for half a game then look like they are playing with 5 guys for the 2nd half, there's always this feeling that they are about to collapse at any moment. I think next years defense should be above average overall but I'm still expecting there to be some rough patches which will probably be the case until we have a new D coordinator.

Or would you prefer they go on a hot streak to start the year and then shit themselves in December?

We should see some improvement in the defense from the rookies of 2014. This is where they need to take a big jump. I'm hoping for Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix to continue improve and hoping for huge jumps for Khyri Thorton and Carl Bradford.
