At least Rodgers got a year of experience (in the face of severe adversity) under his belt before we fired the defensive staff.

Can you imagine the chaos that might have ensued had we tried to overhaul the defense and offense in the same season?

Dont have any links to transcripts or video's just yet.

The presser actually got started on time which is weird.

Very impressed with a lot of things he said. I think he is the anti-Sanders. not that i was a "off with Sanders head" guy or anything. But Capers stressed several times that there rigidness is foolishness. Doesn't seem like hes a guy to get a scheme and stick to it. Not gonna blitz you to death if protection is your best aspect, stuff like that. Also seemed confidentish in the players currently on the roster.

I am very happy with the hire just off first impression. Apparently he was won over in the interview process, said it was a class organization and that everything went smoothly and it seemed to be the "perfect marriage".

anyone else see it and want to throw out your first impression?

Ha ya - thats exactly what I thought - guy seems pretty intelligent

True it may take 2-3 years before the full blown D comes into frutation but from what I got from his speech; good things will be there starting next year.
His main points from the speech were using key players in his new scheme ie the players that are good with be used in a scheme that is good for them.

And then also of course implementing the 3-4D and he made it clear that its stopping the run followed by QB pressure and receiver pressure (both together).

IMO we had excellent receiver coverage this year - just no pass rushage. Combine the 2 and we should have top quality D

Very impressive first contact with the Green Bay community. I am going to like this guy a lot because he is firm. He is going to utilize what he has and match his gameplan with what he has. He also thinks we have the players to use a 3-4 defense which makes me happy.
I am looking forward to seeing our defense beat up on other teams. I just can't wait for the 2009 season.

I have a feeling we are going to fill our roaster with top quality D using our draft picks and FA.

I would expect 2-3 quality D players and then probably a good OL man
Capers will be in on the selection which is nice since he seems like a really smart guy.

I like a lot of his answers. I think Thompson and McCarthy found a good one.

I'm already jacked up for 2009. Is it September yet?
