Not like he would say if he wasn't pleased. I read that Rollins had a pick off Hundley on Friday. I like him already. Randall stood around due to his ankle. I guess it's better than being lost for the season like Heuerman and Fowler.

GREEN BAY — Assuming none of the rookies got mixed up with the 1,700 Boy Scouts who were also touring Lambeau Field, and as long as coach Mike McCarthy's ribeye was cooked to his liking at dinner at the Brett Favre Steakhouse, the Green Bay Packers 10th-year head coach could not have asked for more from his team's annual rookie orientation camp, which wrapped up Saturday.

The 59 players who participated — eight draft picks, 17 undrafted free-agent signees, 25 tryout players and nine holdovers who were eligible because they've yet to earn a year of credit toward their NFL pension — practiced on Friday and Saturday. While there were certainly moments of confusion amid new surroundings while running new plays with teammates they'd never met, McCarthy liked what he saw.

"I've been very pleased with the quality of it, just the way the drills improve from day to day. So I'm looking forward to watching the tape [of practice]," McCarthy said following Saturday's session. "It's been an excellent two days."

Although he didn't have a rookies-only camp during his first year as coach in 2006, the rookie orientation camp has been in place since 2007. While McCarthy altered the format slightly from year to year — this is the second year under the current format — the basics remain intact: General information, position meetings, roughly 100 plays of the playbook and on-field work. It beings with a gathering on Thursday night, during which McCarthy addresses the draft picks, undrafted signees and tryout players with a message about the opportunity they have earned.

"This is a great time of year. [Thursday] night is definitely one of the top days, I know, for me professionally," McCarthy said. "When you get all the prospects — you've got your draft picks, you've got free agents, you've got the gentlemen fighting for a tryout — in the team meeting room.

"The energy, you can just feel it. Everything picks up another notch. ... [On the field] We do a very, very limited scheme installation. It's really about getting them to move as much as you possibly can and just continue the evaluation to make sure you have the best 90-man roster you possibly can."

As of Saturday evening, the Packers' roster stood at 88 players, meaning they have room for two tryout players to be signed. They could also release players if there are other tryout invitees who merit signing.

In 2012, the Packers had their rookie camp two weeks after the draft, and it allowed them to add wide receiver Jarrett Boykin, who initially signed with Jacksonville after the draft, then was released after the Jaguars' rookie camp. He came to Green Bay on a tryout basis and earned a deal.

McCarthy said he preferred having the camp right after the draft, as he has the past two years.

"I think definitely our personnel department likes having it this week," McCarthy said. "Sometimes you would lose a player to a tryout if you were [having your camp] in the second week. This seems to flow better for us."

Now your believing 100% of all Coach MCCarthy said ?

The man is doing his job, it does not include trashing players, pointing out team weaknesses, or presenting the Packers in a bad light. Wake up and smell the coffee, they spent two days working out rookies, free agents, and maybe a walk-on or so. They will review the videos, grade each player, and wright reports on all the participants.

Don't mistake appeasing the press with reality. It's like eating at a friends house, praise everything served even if you don't like it. In other words don't get too excited over the deviled eggs.

Rookie orientation is exactly that. Get the kids the playbooks, see if they look like football players, show them around, and hope for no serious injuries. Sounds like that was accomplished. I feel really bad for the kids that suffered catastrophic injuries this past week.

I know y'all are excited about OTAs coming up in a few weeks. Should be fun seeing if any guys jump out early.

beast (23-Feb) : Campbell is right, he's rich and he doesn't have to explain sh!t... but that attitude gives teams reasons to never sign him again.
dfosterf (22-Feb) : I have some doubt about all that
dfosterf (22-Feb) : I read De'Vondre Campbell's tweet this morning (via the New York Post) Florio says that if he invested his earnings wisely, he will be good

dfosterf (20-Feb) : Hasn"t Bosa missed more games than he has played in the last 3 years?
Mucky Tundra (19-Feb) : He hasn't been too bad when healthy but I don't feel like I ever heard much about when he is

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : even with the rapid fire posts?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yeah, I see what that did. Kind of funny.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : now it's a link to Wes Hodkiezwicz mailbag

Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : what's 118 (besides a number)?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : They got 118 slapped in there.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : that's why it confused the hell out of me
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yeah, but this is taking a headline and slapping it into the Packers Talk
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Wasnt there a time guests could post in the help forum?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : lol good question, kind of impressed!
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : So how is a guest posting?
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Tell them its an emergency
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Working. Meetings.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Lots of fun; the spam goes back 4 or 5 pages by this point
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I thought you'd look for yourself and put 2 and 2 together lol. I overestimated ya ;)
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I thought Guests couldnt post?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : And gosh that's gonna be fun to clean up! hahaa
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Oh. Why not just say that then? Geez.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : check the main forum, seems a spam bot is running amok
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : What?
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Is the Packers online game "Packers Predict" now available for 2024? I can't tell
