Damarious freaking Randall ...Nostradamus would've been blindsided by this one. I figured an obscure CB but not a S to convert to CB.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I'm usually not a big fan of taking a player this high with the intention of switching his position but just like other years I will withhold judgement. I honestly know nothing more about any of the other players who were available other than the fact I heard their name mentioned as potential picks or players fans wanted as their pick.

The thing is pretty much every player that the various mock drafts had the Packers taking had their own questions and most fans here admitted that no one was worth the #30 pick so I'm not sure how they can complain that they should have taken someone else. What I mean is to say no one is worth the #30 pick but they should have taken someone else is kind of silly. I can sit here and say I'd rather they have chosen this guy or that guy but on what grounds? Those of you who do know these players from having watched them exhaustively and studying hours and hours of film may have reason to complain but I don't. I'll wait and see.

We may not always be able to predict what Ted will do come draft time but judging from the reactions at least some things never change.

This is the 8th pick out of 10 1st picks of Ted Thompson that have been used on D and look at our defense. When will people wake up and realize this guy is nowhere near a master of the draft?

If this guy busts, it's really time to reassess what you think of him.

From what I have read - this guy is quick. If he has the coverage skills, it may work out. We will find out what he brings to the table soon.

He has been largely referred to as the best cover safety in the draft.

A Nick Collins corner/safety hybrid? If that end's up being true, this will be a good pick.

But if you haven't studied this guy specifically, than you really can't have an educated opinion on him. You can have an opinion, just not an educated one.

Give him two years... He will be Woodson - Woodson.

He will cover like Charles, and hit like Rod.

Great Pick. Another T.T. Gem.

As I said in the chat, im not a big fan of the pick. I've been trying to picture how the Packers plan to use him. Most likely a slot corner to start off and move to safety in our "3 safety" look with either Burnett or Richardson as the linebacker type safety.

Hopefully he works out. I'm not gonna act as if the sky is falling like some people. One person even went as far as predicting the Packers won't make the playoffs after this pick.

Part of the appeal of being a football fan is that you can pretend that you are smarter than the people who get paid to build a team. A fan can watch some YouTube videos and read some draft reports and assume they know more than people who watch hundreds of hours of tape, workout the players, and speak with coaches.

The last time Ted took a Safety that no one expected, it was Nick Collins. He turned out pretty well. Generally, Ted has been decent at drafting CBs / Safety. At the very least, Ted shouldn't be criticized until Randall has played a bit.

Patriots and Saints are laughing at ted.

I became physically sick as a result of this pick. It turned my stomach.

In 2 years when this undersized fellow ends up on Buffalo's practice squad, then this wasted pick will be compared to the drafting of Tony Mandrich.

beast (16h) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (21h) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (21h) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (21h) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (21h) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (21h) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in

Martha Careful (2-Aug) : Congratulations Sterling Sharpe. He was terrific and I loved watching him play.
beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
