Knowing Mike McCarthy, I rather think he won't. I think we'll see a lot of sentences that sound like, "Evaluations were conducted and decisions were made." I think the phrase "best interests of this team" will be thrown around a few times.

why are people assuming he will explain why he let certain people go?

Sorry to say it, but this is a public game.. where pressers are held for just about the smallest hiccup.

When you fire 8 people, then release a single line statement to the press and nothing else, it seems of a little bit of sheepishness.

IMO, you come out, face the press and allow them to ask the questions they have.

Maybe I am different, but it isn't the way I would handle it. You are in the public eye, if you have the conviction that the moves were necessary, come out and explain the basis of the rationale.

go.pack.go., are you homeschooled? you seem to have more free time during the day than most of the teenagers i know, lol.

No, I'm not homeschooled. I go to a high school, but I'm out today and tommorrow. I don't know why, maybe because of Martin Luther King day and the inaugeration, I'm not sure.

On a serious note.. it is about freaking time that Mike McCarthy comes out and talks about the release of 8 Packer People, the thoughts behind it and then shift directly into a positive upbeat swing with the hiring of Capers.

The silence of Mike McCarthy made him look a little weak IMO, not that the reasons for Sanders dismissal weren't apparent, but just a little bothersome that he didn't have the gumption to explain the reasons in public.

Oh.. and there better be an answer to why Moss was retained and what his role is going to be going further.. you know for damn sure the any DC coming in had to know those answers before saying yes.

I personally would hold even those couple of sentences with higher regard than just releasing something to the press and not doing in in person.

Just me.. carry on.

Since69 hit the nail on the head. Any answers we get to these questions will be less than forthcoming, and couldn't care less. We all saw the results on the field this season. Seven losses by 4 points or less. I think that's reason enough.

Okay.. so the day come when MM is walked.. I shouldn't expect a presser from Ted on why eh.

Ted should just release a statement and carry forward..

He would be crucified before noon the next day.. you man up, show your face and show your convictions in your decisions.

That is what I see.. someone that didn't man up and show his face after the blood letting.

Lacking in my book.

pack93z, I understand your concerns, and in an ideal world, I might even agree with you. But consider this: Even if McCarthy stood there on the podium and gave us a detailed rationale for each hiring, how could we be sure that it wasn't simply a bunch of spin concocted for media consumption? How would we know that Mike McCarthy's side of the story had any bearing in reality? Like employees in any field, NFL coaches serve at the pleasure of their superiors; and like employees in any field, they can be released without cause. In the United States, employers don't need a good excuse to fire you. They're free to move on whenever they well please.
