I'm the only person who voted for Dom Capers in our little poll here, so I'm feeling a bit smug at the moment. 😉

Well... prepare to wipe it from your face if this "report" is correct.

If it becomes apparent that we want Capers.. and we lose him.. it might become a tad bit embarrassing... something we need none of this offseason.

CAPERS ON GIANTS RADAR
Posted by Aaron Wilson on January 17, 2009, 10:42 p.m.
ESPNs Chris Mortensen is reporting that Dom Capers has been targeted as the New York Giants top choice to be their next defensive coordinator now that Steve Spagnuolo has left New York to become the St. Louis Rams new head coach.

Capers was on Giants coach Tom Coughlins staff in Jacksonville in 1999 and 2000.

According to Mortensens source, Capers has interviewed for the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator opening, but prefers to work for Coughlin again.

A former head coach in Carolina and Houston, Capers was the New England Patriots special assistant/secondary coach this season.

Capers and Coughlin got along well in Jacksonville, so its not a surprise that they would work together again.

I know moving slowly and taking your time can be a smart move, but the Packers need to remember if you snooze your lose.

I say this because what if Leslie Frazier gets hired next and Minnesota interviews Sean McDermott and hires him to replace Frazier. It's not out of question giving the ties Brad Childress has to Minnesota. Once again Green Bay is left hanging.

I wasn't buying into the hype created by Brett Favre fans that nobody wants to come to Green Bay because of what happen in the off season, but I have say I'm starting to at least consider it.

Packers are in a bind, no doubt. If Capers is the guy, then they'll need to wait because Capers' agent, Jimmy Sexton, said tonight his client isn't in a hurry to make a decision.

That might just be for leverage purposes against the Packers, but darn it we can't afford to keep missing out on some top quality coaching.

Whether it is reality or not, the stain is starting to stick to the Packers of a team in disarray. At least to others in the league.

Augusts drama, a collapse in the season, a record number of firings and now what appears to be troubling on selling the DC postion for this fine franchise.

Granted.. we don't know what is happening behind the curtain.. but the media, both local and national are waitng to pen another story of "stumbling" managerial moves.. regardless if they are valid or not.

Look at the way people are knocking the Jets search... don't worry they are waiting at our doors.

And you want the culprit, our local media stirring up stories about front runners and jumping to conclusions.. it snowballs from there.

Ted and MM... don't let this turn into another PR issues please.

I have read that Capers will also be interviewing wit the Giants and Cowboys.
Although Capers can run the 3-4 or 4-3, he aparrently prefers the 3-4.
Dallas already runs the 3-4 and is willing to pay the big bucks.

Capers is a very close friend of Coughlin and the Giants already have an outstanding defense in place.

My bet is Capers will not be joining the Green Bay Packers staff.

Way it sounds for the Jets is they are waiting on Ryan from the Ravens it sounds like a pretty much done deal except they can't talk until baltimore is out. I think we are going to be stuck with Moss.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Zero2Cool (1h) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (2h) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (2h) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (3h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (3h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (3h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (3h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (3h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (3h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (3h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (3h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (3h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (3h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (3h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (3h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (3h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (4h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (4h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (4h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (4h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (4h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (4h) : Packers will get in
beast (4h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (4h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (6h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (7h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (17h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (17h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (21h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
