ILB is going to be one of if not the biggest position of need for the Packers this offseason. Barrington has come on nicely, but he is still a work in progress and not what you would want as you #1 ILB, Neither is Hawk. So what can or will the team do this offseason to improve that greatest need?

Draft - It is not looking like there is a ILB stud that we should be targeting for the 1st round that we would expect to come in and make a first day or first year impact to make the ILB position better. There are some players that might someday fill that role but they appear to be projects for a couple years.

FA - Free Agency also doesn't seem to have an over abundance of players that would upgrade the position for us either. Best chances would be Rey Maualuga or Brandon Spikes, but they will come with a pricetag.

Than there is what we have. Is there any reason to expect, the youth at the position to make strides where they will be an answer next year besides Barrington? With another year with peppers and the way Neal and Perry have played on the edge, would the team be better make the move of Clay inside a fulltime move giving him a full offseason to prepare for playing there, and look to add depth at both OLB and ILB in the draft. Or hope to take the pressure off the ILB by building a Dline that nobody can get past in the run game.

Clay Mathews should remain a hybrid player, imo. Either add another stud inside line backer or at least another outside linebacker (hopefully both) which would free up Clay even more. Hopefully they can find an inside linebacker that can cover.

I don't expect any free agent splashes this year, unless they lose guys like Peppers, Tramon, fail to resign Raji, Guion, etc. As long as the Packers have another good draft, they should be a contender again next season. My biggest fear, as always, is health. If the Green Bay Packers stay as healthy as they did this season, they are competing for a Super Bowl almost every season.

Jamari Lattimore and Barrington should start and draft 2 inside guys and another 3-4 prospect to groom behind Perry, Neal, and Elliot.

Be nice to get someone high in the draft though, free up Clay. Someone crazy, with a nasty streak.

Draft Denzel Perryman and watch the improvement.

Packers Senior Personnel Executive Alonzo Highsmith tweeted praise to Miami senior LB Denzel Perryman.

The player personnel member is a former star running back out of Miami, so he has close ties to the program. Perryman will be mentioned as one of the top prospects among off line of scrimmage linebackers.

IMO, the Inside Linebacker position is the area of most need. Perhaps the 2015 Draft or Free Agency will deliver the Gorilla Speed we need. Let us not forget that the O-line should improve next season with the return of B.J.Raji to the lineup.

The team is near to climbing the mountain, this seasons experience will improve the Rookies and expose the areas that need improvement. The Offense is in great shape and the off season will allow injuries needed healing. The Defense will however need to evolve more and I believe that they will.

Detroit may again challenge the Packers next season, but they will also be trying to fix their own problems. Chicago and Minnesota should not be more than under average teams. I therefor am more optimistic about the 2015 Packers than I've been for a long time.

So celebrate our Packers and feel good about the 2015 Season ahead !

We'll need to retain some guys, but I fully expect this team to be even better next year. I hope the mindset changes, of course. lol
