Does Haslett become our front runner due to losing out on the Rams job or is McDermott still our number one?

We can't even talk to McDermott until the Eagles season is over, and that's assuming the Eagles will even let him interview for a DC position since he still has one year left on his contract.

I'm hoping McCarthy will wait until at least after the NFC Championship game to see if the Eagles don't bow out to the Cardinals and then can at least try to open up talks with McDermott.

Haslett is the default front-runner right now since he's the only candidate McCarthy has interviewed that's still available, but that is no guarantee he'll be the guy.

I have no problem with Haslett.......he can put a defense together. But I also feel it is important to consider all options, so hopefully McDermott will be free after this weekend. I am guessing Haslett hasa little time to consider this, and possibly other options, to allow a thorough search by MM.

But, Mike McCarthy has to get it right.....this is a huge moment in his career in GB, and he needs to nail it.

I'd have no problem with Haslett, either. But like RainX said, it would be smart to wait (if he can) until Monday to see whether McDermott is available. If Philly wins this weekend, I'd make Haslett a sizeable offer ASAP.

I just think there are a bunch of quality guys still available. If I know I can get Mcdermott in a nod nod, wink wink sort of deal, and he is the guy I want, I wait, even until after the SB.

I really wouldn't mind Cecil. He played for McGinnis in AZ nad seems to be a bit olf an up and comer in the coaching ranks. He has experience with teh Titans scheme. The only question I would have is how connected he is to position coaches around the league. Of course I have the same or similar concern with other assistants.

I don't understand why people are saying wait till this weekend and see if the Eagles get beat and if they don't then offer Haslett the job. If he is your second choice you might as well go all in on and wait to see if you can get your 1st choice. Its like wanting to take the lead cheerleader to the prom but you are waiting to find out if shes going so you say i'll wait a few days and if she still don't know i'm going to take the flute player in the band.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I agree dhazer, we are only 2 weeks away from chatting with him....if he is the target. If theya re waiting for him, they have to believe that there is interest. My only concern is MN. If Frazier leaves, McDermott is rumored as their top replacement choice. They will spend crazy and have more pieces than we do. I wouldn't be suprised to have him select the over GB.

That's what we had said about Nolan, Williams and look where they are. On teams that aren't crazy on talent on defense. The only good players I can think that are good are Bailey and Bly on both of those defence combined. Don't rule out anything. Packers are a better team then Vikings. They shouldn't of had made the playoffs this year but Packers / Bears just handed the spot to them. Some coaches rather have a team that's more young, better then other teams.

KG - come on....NO has far more talent in their line than we do. MN has WAY WAY more than we do. MN plays cover two so that might be a factor for us. I'm not sure their DB's are built for man

Some are saying we won't even be able to talk to Sean McDermott after the Eagles are done. That is not true. Andy Reid is and has always been a loyal 'boss' to his employees. If they can better their career, he allows it. He did stop Spagnalo or whatever his name is one year because the 49ers were tryign to get Jim Johnson and Andy wanted McDermott there just in case Jim left. Mind you, he let Spags interview with the Giants, a rival in his own division. I see no reason he would stop McDermott from interviewing with us because no one is (that i know of) is after Jim Johnson for a HC position.

Martha Careful (12h) : thank you Mucky for sticking up for me
Martha Careful (13h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Rude!
beast (17h) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (20h) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (23h) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
