I may be asphyxiated for this.... But it is just a fricken question.

So lay off.

What could the Packers get for Driver? Could it fix something that we need fixed.

Greg Jennings and James Jones #1 and #2

Food for thought.

Edit: Spelling.

Probably just a middle round draft pick. Maybe a 2nd if we're lucky.

probably not enough to make it worth it. player for player trades rarely happen anymore. and i dont think a draft pick would suffice.

Not enough to make it worthwhile. Driver is one of those guys who should remain and retire a Packer, provided his performance warrants the spot. He is in such good condition that I believe he can play another 3 years at a very high level.

RP... I started a similar post yesterday.. with Jones, Nelson and Martin still on the roster.. it is a position of strength.

But the more I thought about it, Driver 's skills haven't declined much and he provides enough leadership on this club to stave off trade talks.

How about say a Crabtree falling to nine this draft.. do you pick him and deal one of the current Packer receivers?

Yeah, I think Driver is of too much value to the Packers that wouldn't necessarily carry over to other teams. At 34 (by next season), there won't be many teams clamoring to pick him up for anything substantial.

Besides, while I don't necessarily agree with Woodson and Harris about more veteran leadership, Driver provides those young WR's with leadership I wouldn't want to lose.

And in all honesty, I'd put Jordy ahead of Jones on the depth chart.

Great question.

I would say YES. But only because I am a firm believer in the best available player concept on draft day.

In order for it to be even worth thinking about for GB. They would have to receive a 1st. Walker got us pick 37. But what teams really need a WR that would be willing to trade?

MN and Chicago. No way a trade happens in the division.

Maybe another Trade with the Jets, hooking Driver and Favre up for another year.

Urgh!
Just the thought of it is depressing. First we lose my favorite player, then we lose my second favorite player? No. I hope it never happens. I'm hoping Driver retires a Packer.

That said, Jones has another year to go. So does Jordy. Driver runs beautiful routes and Aaron needs a guy like that for 4-7 yard passes, which are a lot harder than people realize. Driver is too dependable to get rid of just yet. Let Jones and Jordy mature first.

I don't want a draft pick either. If we had to trade him, I'd want someone on Defense, either on the DL or a solid LB, but preferably a DL that can contribute in '09. Not later, now.
