Had it been my call, no way he returns to play in the Detroit game.
Even if I had, once I saw him hobbling around, he sits.

* Pre-existing injury aggravated

* Leading the game, just rely on Defense

* Already in the Playoffs

My thought it you put him in and hope the extra week helps. You also hope that you can get a big enough lead that you can put your back-up in.

We lose the game and have to play again next week with an injured Rodgers I think it is a safe bet that the season is done.

I would have put him in. They would have lost the game without him. Mike knows they would not have scored any more points without Aaron in the game. That Flynn can't really move the offense. The game was already tied when he came back in.

There is a huge difference between being in the playoffs and having the 2nd round seed. Going to Dallas and then Seattle before playing somewhere (Possibly Detroit) for the NFCCG is 100 times more difficult than a bye then hosting a game before going to Seattle.

Obviously it's easier to say "yes" when he did it with minimal apparent additional damage.

That said, the risk side of the risk/reward is "just" dealing with a pulled muscle. It's not a concussion, mcl sprain or something like that...the nature of the injury almost causes him to be in a self-preservation mode while out there. I'm not trying to minimize ithe injury he sustained, just saying when weighing options, I feel the reward outweighed the risks.

I am assuming that the medical team didn't think playing would greatly increase the damage already done. Or they would not have let him back. So in that case, I would have let him play knowing that a win gives him an extra week to rest and rehab before having to play. But I would be watching to see if he was having difficulty with the plays being called. Wouldn't be calling any play action roll outs anytime soon.

I agree with all the points made by Kanata, wpr, and PFWT.

The thing I want to add, though - at the risk of redirecting the thread hahahaha, is that we really need to use Tolzien over Flynn short term, medium term, for anything other than kneel downs if Aaron ever does need to sit out. Neither Tolzien nor anybody else on the planet is an adequate substitute for Rodgers, but he at least would be about ten steps better than Flynn.

But that is something apparently they do like in Chicago so maybe we can trade Tolzien to the Bears to replace Cutler.

You got to ride him till ride him till he can't go anymore at this point because without him we're done anyway.
Flynn or Tolzien, it doesn't matter.
