Do you think we might sign tony gonzales this offseason, with pioli running the show in kansas, it's possible he might clean the team out and try to have a strong draft, and take thompson up on his 3rd pick offer earlier in the season,

just a thought...

A while back I'd have been all for this move, but not after I read some reports at the end of the season that heavily implied Gonzalez was a prima donna.

After seeing Finley do some very good things in the final couple of games this season, I'm even more reluctant to get Gonzalez. Sure it'd be nice to have a player on the roster that Finley could emulate, but at the end of the day that shouldn't make or break Finley the player. The coaches have a job of coaching, and I think they can do it just fine without adding someone like Gonzalez.

So at this point I'd like to see the Packers keep both Finley and Lee, let Finley grow and see if he can challenge Lee more next season. Basically give Finley more opportunities to show what he can do, which isn't dependent on getting Gonzalez.

I'd much rather like to see the Packers keep both their thirds, draft some players that'll have a chance to contribute for longer periods in the future than Gonzalez would.

I wouldn't mind having him I jus don't think we'll get him plus with that we'd have to put Humphrey on IR or the PC if he aint already gone next season.

I would have liked it during the season before the trading deadline when it was discussed, but like you say AADP, people in the organization are real high on Finley and he seems like a great target for passes, especially in the red zone. I just want him to catch more of the passes thrown to him.

Too old, too costly, and we have some good, but underutilized, talent at TE.

well when the trade came up Gonzalis said he really didn't want to come to greenbay, and was happy they worked things out, that said would rather have the t.e s we have and get them playing time so they can grow,Finley shows alot of promise.

The only way I could see this trade happen, is if their new GM would indeed want to get a young team, we somehow get a player for player trade, which hasn't happened for years (Lee + 6th for Gonzalez or so) and they want to give up on Thigpen, as Gonzalez is his favorite and best target, it seems.

I don't see this thing happening. Maybe if he still wants to be traded that bad, but I asume he'll go and stay with the Chiefs now.

I would have gone for it at the time even if Ted would have upped the ante to get him but I'm not that interested now.
I think Finley is going to grow up and turn into a fine tight end.

I don't think adding Gonzalez would help the offense much if any. It is not like we have a shortage in the passing game. We have 2 1000+, 2 500-700 WR, plus a TE group that can easily put up a combined 600-700 yards.

Our players are fine in the passing game, the team needs to solidify the Oline to boost the running game and improve pass blocking. If they tie that up, there will not be much that will be able to stop the offense.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!
