I have searched the net repeatedly for this and I never find anything. I am more curious about asking if the Packers hold walk-on tryouts but overall if any team in the NFL holds them?

Just curious, thanks for the responses and info if any!

According to this article :

And each August NFL teams invite walk-ons and free agents to training camp alongside the veterans returning from last years squad to, as head coach Brian Billick puts it, claw their way onto the team. More than 80 players take the field at the Ravens training camp at McDaniel College in Westminster for three weeks of sometimes twice-daily practices and a handful of preseason games, hoping to make the cut for the 53 spots on the Ravens official roster. Most of those cut go home, but eight would-be pro football players who show potential during training camp are selected by coaches to stick around and block and tackle and catch with the first- and second-stringers during regular-season practices. Teams pay these practice-squad players $4,700 a week for a maximum of 17 weeks work, but more important than the money for these men is the chance they get to run plays and hustle week in and week out before the coaches eyes. Sometimes that means another shot at getting on the team for real.

Thanks for that Nonstop. I read the whole thing. In some aspects it looks like practice squad players have a nice spot in the league. Only problem is, you have to have a certain lifestyle to live the life of a practice squad player. To be called and up and go can be tough for some. However, it is the NFL and you would have to be stupid not to take a call if you got one (which is what most of these guys are working for haha).
So much crap running through my head right now...upside, practice squad players make more than I do right now............wwaaayyyy more.

They made a movie about that one Eagles guy who made it. Forgot the name of it. It starred that Marky Mark guy.

Actually, it wasn't that bad of a movie. Very watchable.

Yeah, $80,000 a year is certainly a decent chunk of change (a bit more than my dad makes after 28 years as a mechanical engineer), though admittedly it wouldn't get you far in a place like New York City.

I've played football my whole life and I have tons of people in my life right now telling me to go for it. Started as a dream when I was younger of coarse...but since I have grown up and see what it takes, its become a reality. The chances of a guy to make it into the league is pretty slim. The one thing I would have to work on is my self-esteem. Size is there, strength is definately there, and speed can have some work and IS being worked on.

I didn't want to get into detail about it because I don't want people to take me as a joke on here since I am still semi-new. The low self-esteem kicks in...haha. I have a personal trainer (ex football coach) helping me lose some weight right now. If I got a shot, I would try my damned best.
