GREEN BAY, Wis. -- There will come a time in Sunday's game in New Orleans when one of the two quarterbacks won't be able to keep up.

And it may be only because there's no more time left.

When Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees get together -- and it's not often -- the scoreboard operator usually gets a workout.

Nearly two thousand passing yards and 211 points combined in the only three head-to-head meetings between those two giants of the quarterbacking world is evidence enough that the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints appear headed for another shootout in the Superdome this Sunday night.

I read somewhere that Aaron Rodgers has "plateaued at his peak". Brees appears to either have started the path downward from his peak or at least entered a valley - and Rodgers' peak was a little higher than Brees' anyway.

I seem to recall that Rodgers and Brees worked out a lot together when Rodgers was backing Favre. I think I read how much Rodgers respected Brees' work ethic, passion and professionalism. I think Rodgers aspired to the things Brees was doing.

All QB's want to outshine the other, and we know they don't play one-another, but I always think this one is of special interest, based on my limited knowledge.

I could be completely wrong (especially if the Packers DBs are injured) but I'm expecting the Packers defense to do what they do best... get after the passing game and make it struggle as the other team tries to play keep up with Rodgers.

To be honest I'm more worried about the Saints physical RBs doing well enough that the defense changes game plans, basically the Saints using the run to set up the pass, more than I'm worried directly with the passing game with how the Saints have been struggling there. Of course the Saints got weapons and the Packers might be short on healthy DBs at the moment... and Jimmy Graham is a match-up nightmare.

If our pass rush stays how it has been I don't think it will be a shootout because Brees has looked awful under pressure this year. I don't know if anyone here has watched him much but he's thrown some of the silliest passes to avoid getting sacked this year that I've ever seen. I hate to say it but some of them have been Cutler like. That being said there's still an elite QB in there ready to break out one of these weeks. If that happened then it could turn into a shootout but our pass rush has been pretty good this year. I think if they don't run all over us we'll win pretty easily.

We'll see how it plays out. Should be interesting.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
