I like this show in terms of being interesting and fun to watch - about the beginnings of the Batman story, etc. HOWEVER, there are glaring weird inaccuracies that make me wonder whether the writers are really that stupid or whether they think the younger generation of viewers is too dumb to notice, or whether, being fiction, they wrote it that way intentionally.

Specifically, I refer to a setting - buildings, clothes, some core attitudes of characters from the 40s into the 50s, but vehicles which seem to be 70s into the 80s, and technology, social attitudes, and expressions from the 90s into the 2000s. Example: they just didn't have cell phones back then or TV remotes or a bunch of other things that stand out in the show.

It's still a good show, though, IMO.

You may or may not know I sorta like Batman. Because of that alone I had to give the show a glance. The first thing that helped me was to stop nit picking about all the inaccurate (according to Comics and Kane) details. And to also understand that this is NOT Batman, it is about Gordon and his rise within GCPD.

My girls really enjoy the show a lot and are hooked. I think it is entertaining, but like I said, you have to drop what you know about Batman and not be critical otherwise you won't enjoy it as much.

It may be mostly (future) Commissioner Gordon, but the explanation of how Bruce got to be Batman and his attitudes and methods, that's a big part of it too.

I still just wonder whether the writers KNEW they were including those inaccuracies or just blundered into it.

It seems as if almost every story From Star Wars and Star Trek to The Hobbitt to Gotham to Doc Who has been rewritten and or rebooted. They don't care to keep the old theme alive. They want to modernize them and it ruins the entertainment value for me.

There have been other shows where they try and give it a retro background but have modern devices too. I can't remember what shows they are because I won't watch them even if they are popular. But that's ok. Old dogs are not the target market anyway. I check TCM to see if they are playing an old movie that I like and then put in a dvd movie or better still turn te tv off. Outside of sports I probably don't watch the tv 5 hours a week.

I can't stand the modern TV "comedies", but I watch several of the dramas just about every evening or later on Primetime on Demand. A lot of it may be aimed at an audience younger than us, but it's still pretty entertaining.

I don't watch very much prime time network shows. If I am home and not busy doing something else I like NCIS. Mainly because they have Jethro go all Navy Seal every once in a while. I like to think guys like him find a home when they are no longer active duty. It is pretty neat when he does the sniper routine once a year.

Gibbs enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1976 and was a military police non-commissioned officer at Camp Lejeune[12] before becoming a Scout Sniper. He served on tours of duty in Panama (Operation Just Cause)[13] and with the 1st Battalion 1st Marines in the Persian Gulf (Operation Desert Storm).[14] In the season 6 episode "Deliverance", it is revealed that he was also deployed to Colombia on a classified mission and in one scene, his service record file is seen labeled as "top secret", suggesting he may have participated in special operations missions. Through interactions with high-ranking Marine officers, Gibbs was implied to be generally well-respected during his time in the Corps.[15][16] Not long after returning from the Gulf, he retired from the Marine Corps with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and joined the Naval Investigative Service (as the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was called back then) in August 1991.

I also didn't clarify that I like the ME Dr. Mallard calling his Jethro instead of Gibbs or Leroy.
