Ok, I don't have alot of evidence on this one, but a banner on the NFL site states this :

'Browns hire Mangini

The Cleveland Browns have hired Eric Mangini as their new coach, reports Adam Schefter.'

And usually, Adam Schefter is pretty thrustworthy and reliable.

The Cleveland Browns' search for their next coach is over.

The Browns reached agreement with former New York Jets coach Eric Mangini on Wednesday to fill the same post in Cleveland. Mangini, 37, was fired last week after three seasons with the Jets.

A press conference has been called for 10 a.m. ET on Thursday.

Mangini was believed to be the favorite for the position that was opened when the Browns fired Romeo Crennel last week. The Browns also interviewed New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Cleveland defensive coordinator Mel Tucker for the vacancy.

Nope, he didn't Cheesey. He was fired and immediately was called by the Browns.

It's like as soon as he got in the the car his cell phone rang and it was them.

I have a feeling Mangini is going to thrive in the littler fishbowl of Cleveland than he did in New York.. if reports hold true and Rob Ryan follows him to the Browns.. and the offense even stays semi productive.. the Browns could be a bounce back team in 09..

Savage might have had shortfalls in PR and whatnot.. but he stocked that team with talent.
