My first game was the Sunday after Thanksgiving November 26, 1978 . A friend of Dad's sold the tickets because he had family in for the weekend. Took my girl friend, now my wife, to the game. Got up very early and drove up to Green Bay that morning. Came back that night in a blizzard. It took 4 hours to get there and over 7 hours to return. I only got as far as her place and then both Mothers insisted that I not make the normally 2 hour trip on to my place. My guess is I would not have gotten home at all because the roads were closed a short time later.
The Packers tied the vickies 10-10 in OT. The fans booed when the vickies missed a FG that would have won the game. Everyone was freezing their butt off and wanted to go home but no one left.
I signed up a few days later to be added to the season ticket waiting list.
