And this explains why Pennel was inactive... Packers planed on running a 4-3 against the Seahawks but they struggled with the substitution / personnel groups and so they reverted back to the 3-4... the logic of who was active and who wasn't now makes sense. (though I'd still like to see Janis as the KR... maybe the PR too... but I think he'd be a clear upgrade on KR)

Of course they serious need to get the substitution / personal groups stuff fixed and fast... and maybe it was a problem because Mike McCarthy didn't want to run live with it during a preseason game? As he kept wanting to say we're not showing the Seahawks anything, and I guess didn't show the team enough of how to run it live in a real game.

You didn't play the defense you wanted to play because you couldn't properly substitute? If they were playing base 4-3 there would be no reason to substitute in the first place, so if you wanted to play 4-3 and subbing was an issue, you could've just started in 4-3. Who buys this crap?

There is still no logic in not putting Pennel on active roster. put him inside with Guion or Boyd and you have your two interior guys.

The desire of fans to want to be happy for false reasons is fine, I guess. I don't watch because I want to pretend to be happy. I watch and let what I see dictate my reaction. What I watched deserved nothing less than a vitriolic reaction.

I didn't read the article but I watched all of Dom's interview on packers.com. He said their focus was to match personnel groups to what Seattle was playing but they'd sub late which would then mean later subs for the Packers and not getting the call in like they wanted. They eventually just settled on a few groups to avoid the confusion even though it apparently wasn't part of the initial game plan

This off-season prepare to go toe to toe with the champs...can't even freaking communicate on a basic level and give up over 200 yards on the ground. LOSE.

How do you expect this team with ONE week to prepare for a playoff game, if we even make it, to beat an upper echelon team? HOW? Don't give me this "We were so close vs. SF last year" GARBAGE! That game was in frigid conditions for a west coast team who clearly didn't want to be there. They played down to our lesser competition and the elements gave us a major advantage and we still lost.

Upbeat pie in the sky Packer fan just continues writing pieces of evidence off over and over and over never coming to the verdict that is inescapable. I don't even need to type it because it's lost on you. You'll just wait until you find ONE piece of evidence that counteracts the mountain on the other side and convince yourself things are "fine". I don't understand people sometimes.

It is more than a little disturbing that any professional sports franchise doesn't know what they want to do. Why would GB want to wait and counter what Seattle is doing? Why would they not want to set the tone and have Seattle need to counter what THEY are doing? Isn't that part of the game? If the QB sees too many men on the DL line or threatening to blitz he has to shift players around or bring in more people from the edges to defend? And blitzing isn't just for pass rushing. They can run blitz too.

Trial and error? Please. trail and error is for when you don't have a clue as what to do and you are guessing hoping to get lucky. If the coaching staff doesn't know what they need to do, if they don't know who their most effective players are something is horribly wrong.

I have to admit, even with the amount of complaining I've done the past week, that I liked this defensive set. There's some definite pass rush juice in it.
