Snippets on things I found interesting that we probably didnt know before

PASS OFFENSE (B)

Greg Jennings caught 20 passes of 20 yards or more, including nine longer than 35, which were the most by a Packer since Antonio Freeman had nine in 1998

The WRs also dropped 24 passes, most by the group since 2002, and Jennings was the leader with nine.

The No. 18 rank in percentage of sacks allowed was Green Bay's worst finish since 1996. The offensive line was charged with 22 sacks, its most since '96.

RUN OFFENSE (C-minus)

PASS DEFENSE (B)

RUN DEFENSE (D-minus)

Ultimately, Green Bay ranked 26th against the run, its worst finish since 1983, and its yield of 131.9 was its highest since '88. Last year, the Packers gave up 102.9 and 3.88.

SPECIAL TEAMS (D)

PERSONNEL MOVES (C-minus)

COACHING (D-minus)

He ran the ball more (43.2%), presided over an attack that turned the ball over just 21 times (the club's low since '95) and did well on third down (fifth) and in the red zone (sixth).

Eight starters missed a total of 43 games, including four on defense totaling 32. It was the club's worst bout with injuries since 2005 (11-66).

Overall I agree with the marks.

I find this remark funny though.

By trading down four times (against trading up once), he almost guaranteed the Packers would be the NFL's youngest team for a third straight year.

Now aren't all players in the draft pretty much the same age (within a year or so)? I think the reason the team was the youngest again was more due to losing 2 almost 40 year olds.

This segment also points to all the frustration at the team this year.

Only eight NFL teams in the 29-year history of the 16-game schedule ever had a 6-10 record or worse and a positive point differential. Amazingly enough, these Packers had the most favorable scoring margin at plus-39, slightly ahead of the 1990 San Diego Chargers, who also went 6-10 and finished at plus-34. You could say no team ever quite underachieved in the standings the way the '08 Packers did. The giveaway-takeaway table showing Green Bay at plus-7 didn't suggest losing, either; six of the other top seven teams in turnover ratio all made the playoffs.

This one speaks volumes to me. SO frustrating that we were in so many games so late, only to come out of them with losses.

At the beginning of the season I would have never guessed the defense would have had that big of a drop off. The D made mistakes last year too, but I thought our D was our strong point.

I agree, but I also think that's one big thing they got wrong. The D was pretty solid last year, but not remarkable, especially given the talent we had on the field. The year before it was a mess, as with the year before that.

So we have all that talent (remember: DL was Kampy, Williams, Jenkins and KGB, plus the other guys rotating in, etc.) and we still weren't great last year, and all the other years we've looked pretty bad. Then we traded Corey, then KGB went down and didn't get back up, then Jenkins got hurt, and blah blah blah.

I was with everyone else; I thought our D was going to be the pillar for this season. We were very wrong, and in hindsight I'm not sure, personally, why I was so confident.

Well, it all started on the line. I too thought the D would be solid in '08.

Corey Williams - gone. They said Harrell would step up to replace him. We all know how that turned out.

KGB - Lost a step. Couldn't even generate pressure.

Jenkins - Out for the year with an injury.

Which leaves - Kampy - rarely saw one on one the entire season. Stop Kampy, you stop the DL. It was painful to watch.

So since the DL couldn't do anything, the LBs completely wore down.

The way to fix things - in the offseason, we'll need more depth in the D, especially the DL. We need someone to generate pressure besides Kampy to take some of the double coverages off of him. Losing Williams turned out to be huge. And let's hope Jenkins is healthy in '09.
