Maybe they are not firing Moss yet because he is in the interview process for a HC position.

So if you're Thompson, I don't think you can simply promote from w/in - and that doesn't mean Moss can't get the job done, it just means that if only for PR reasons you really need to clean house and effect some big change on the defensive side of the ball.

It isn't Ted's call.. Mike McCarthy made the firing call and he will replace him with his pick, Ted might need to okay the choice.. but Mike McCarthy will have the keys IMO.

True, apologies for the mis-speak/type. In either case, I'm of the opinion that a promotion from w/in for a defense that's underperformed isn't the right way to go this off-season.

Now all we need is Jags to go ahead with the Jets HC interview, thereby getting fired by BC, not get hired by the Jets, and end up back as OC for Green Bay.

And wasn't Al Harris a huge fan of Lionel Washington, or is my memory playing tricks on me? I wonder if that affects his future here...

No apologizes needed.. I agree with your thought.. new view upon the defense may be needed.. and yes we disagree in principle with regards to the backers and their performance.. but squared up on this thought.

The more I think about this opening..the more I hope Timmy Lewis gets a shot at the DC here.. it won't be a long stay as he as well wants to move to a HC.. and if he would turn this D around.. would short track his way to a position.. but that is one smart cookie there.. shame his playing career ended the way it did.. but highly intelligent player and person.

I don't like the Washington move, at all - our CBs were damn near the only ones out there performing this year. Hopefully whoever gets the DC job will bring him back.

Here is the thing.. Lionel has been passed over time and time again for promotion within the Packers organization.. and if this holds true.. then he has now been released.. would you come back to the team?

I hope so to.. he would either have to have very thick skin or have something in place with the Packers on a return with a greater role.. maybe the entire secondary?

I'm betting that's what will happen if Moss gets the DC job.

I'm not enamored wit Moss but I think he has a better than 50-50 chance of being MMs choice, especially if he doesn't land a HC job this week.

It has been officially announced on Packers.com

One new note.. Rock was let go.. not a surprise with the number of injuries on this club.

The Green Bay Packers have released six assistant coaches, Head Coach Mike McCarthy announced Monday morning. Those released are Defensive Coordinator Bob Sanders, Defensive Ends Coach Carl Hairston, Defensive Tackles Coach Robert Nunn, Secondary Coach Kurt Schottenheimer, Defensive Nickel Package/Cornerbacks Coach Lionel Washington and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator Rock Gullickson.

"These are difficult decisions," McCarthy said. "I hold each of these men in high regard on a personal level, and I want thank them for their service to the Green Bay Packers."

dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
