Nick Collins announces retirement

Former Packers safety Nick Collins announced his retirement on his verified Twitter account on Tuesday. Collins' Green Bay career ended because of a neck injury suffered in the club's second regular season game of 2011. Collins, who underwent vertebrae fusion surgery, was released by Green Bay in April 2012. He has not appeared in an...

I don't mean to be disrespectful since this is a great time to recognize what a tremendous asset Nick was to the organization, and how unfortunate his injury was, but I'm surprised he announced his retirement today. I assumed he already had a long time ago.
