I know its only training camp but we do have a lot of young guys in the secondary (a few old ones too) in Richardson, Hyde and Hayward who have showed promise early in their careers and a first round draft pick. We can certainly hope for a big improvement with this group but is it unrealistic to expect it? At the very least we should have decent depth.

Vic says Richardson is the TC MVP (for what that is worth)

Because I though we needed depth. You can never have too much depth.

I was pretty comfortable Burnett, Hyde and Richardson.

Sean Richardson has completely fallen off the map after some early buzz. That's a shame because our safety spot is looking mighty shaky once again.

Is he hurt, again, or something? Unusual to see him go from beign talked about, often, to not at all.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Underwear league MVP so far. Just fades into the background when the games go live it seems.

I wonder how many snaps he's getting (compared to others) in the preseason games... I'm seeing Haha in there a lot... both making some plays but also giving some up... and I haven't noticed Richardson in the game much (which is good that he's not getting lit up). That or maybe I'm just not noticing him... but I haven't been looking for him either.

One of 2 things

Either they know what they have with Richardson, he's already made the team and they are taking a good long hard look at Banjo, Miller and Clay, Dix needs the reps being a rookie, as does Hyde since he is switching to S.

Or, they have decided to move on and he will get cut at some point.

Probably #1, just a guess, I saw where he was credited with 1 tackle Saturday, so he did play some, probably sat after the 3rd series with the rest of the starters.

I didn't see any of the Rams game, but I have it recorded so I'll be watching it in a few days or maybe this weekend.

I don't see much in Sean Richardson beyond a decent in the box safety with poor to average at best cover skills. A very good defensive coordinator could probably creatively scheme and make it work, but good quarterbacks would easily expose him, imo. Especially without a top-flight free safety to cover for his mistakes.

I think Burnett, Hyde, and Clinton-Dix are better options in the long run than Richardson. I think Banjo is also better in coverage. Richardson seems like a #4 or #3 type safety, at best. Decent depth, but still not a very good player.
