I would be over the moon with a wild card spot! I really think we're good enough for a deep playoff run, just not setting myself up for any kind of disappointment.

My theory on Culpepper: playmakers and good offensive lines make him a top 10 QB in the league. I know, I sound like an idiot -- but before I beat myself up too much, look at the production. He had one of the best seasons ever by a quarterback in 2004. Before you point out he had Randy Moss, I'm aware. But Moss only played in 13 of the games that year, and only accounted for 767 of Pep's 4700+ yards. That year, Daunte completed 69% of his passes, through for 4,700 yards, threw 39 TDs to only 11 interceptions. If not for Peyton Manning throwing 49 that year, Daunte was the league MVP.

The problems since then are obvious: bad teams and a horrific injury. So, I'm not the best judge on Daunte RIGHT NOW. But I know that he was a heckuva quarterback -- he just NEEDS the supporting cast to do it. I'd feel comfortable with him as our backup. Certainly more comfortable than Brohm and Flynn -- both of whom I like. It's just -- can we really win if A-Rod goes down and a rookie comes in to do the job?
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Not to mention all the I told you so's due to having rookie back ups. I still don't buy that Culpepper isn't a throw it up and hope your WR makes a play type of quarterback (Moss being the best), but with our WR's we can do at least that and win. I've really got to get my precognition working again.

My biggest problem with Cpep isn't what he does on the field.. it is the attitude he may bring in the locker room and on the sidelines.. I think he would push for playing time at every turn to the point of distraction.. again, that is my distant opinion of him.

Exactly. When he was with the Vikings Tice constantly fed his ego. Culpepper was a big part in the decision to trade Moss too (that worked out well). If he was in the GB locker room, he would be looking for every opportunity to unseat Rodgers. Every tie Rodgers struggles (which he naturally will early on in the season) Culpepper will be there chomping at the bit.

God I hope he goes to Green Bay. 😉
"There's the snap, Rodgers with a quick drop - in trouble! AND SACKED BY ALLEN! The ball is lose, the ball is lose, and recovered by Kevin Williams! And that's the ball game! Childress and the Vikings FINALLY beat the Packers!"

zombieslayer you're saying with a first year starter it's superbowl or bust?
i have all the confidence in the world but come on you can't say bust, its way to easy to lose a playoff game just look at last year!

We should play with that attitude.

Now, as a fan, I'd be happy to win the division, skip the first round of the playoffs, win the divisional round, and lose the championship game. But I bet that Mike McCarthy has his players aiming for the SB.

I would welcome the guy with open arms. I'm as pro Pack as it gets, but we need a veteran backup, period.

I think we have enough veteran leadership to keep Culpepper in check. The team is around Rodgers and I think onald Driver and others would make sure Culpepper doesn't cross the line and try to steal Rodgers' job

I liked the Culpepper idea better in April than I do now. I bet right now he is wishing he had accepted Thompson's offer back then, but at this point, I just don't think the Packers would gain enough by signing a veteran backup. The rookies have been through all of the off-season stuff, and they will be improving each week.

One of our backup quarterbacks will be hurt this week and will have to be placed on IR. (wink) The Pack has tons of cap money and that means they'll sign a veteran QB. They're not going to give up on either Brohm or Flynn. It's not going to happen, but I think they clearly know that they need to sign a back up. I'll be surprised if one of our QB's doesn't get put on IR.

beast (3h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (3h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (13h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (13h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (15h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (16h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (17h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (17h) : Thank you
wpr (17h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (17h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (17h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (17h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (18h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (18h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (18h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (18h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (18h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
