My guess is Finley just happy about medical clearance of some kind.
As far as twitter talk of him maybe signing a 2 year 16 million deal... wouldn't that make him the highest paid (per year) TE in the NFL?
If I'm understanding this
spotrac correctly and assuming it's correct, all the other NFL TEs are earning (on average) less than 7.5 million per year.
Which makes me think it's highly unlikely the Packers signed Finely (coming off a bad neck injury) to the highest paid TE (per year) deal... unless there is some sort of trick to it. I remember there being talk from Hawk's agent that they say they set the last year of their rookie year deal very high, with both sides knowing from the get go, he wouldn't be getting it, and it was there to force both sides to renegotiation/release a deal.
So my thought is that the Packers didn't sign Finley to the highest paid TE (per year) deal unless maybe the first year is low and the second year is high to force renegotiation/release or incentive based like zero said near the start of this thread, with the incentives being unlikely for Finley to get.
Of course the cap is said to going up and said it might explode in the next two years, so it's possible if the Packers are think that they know that will happen. Of course if that was the case then it might be nice to get Cobb and Nelson (and the other playmakers) locked into lock term deals before it happens, or there price might go up (even if their price is unreasonable, as Jennings, Jenkins and Raji might of found out, as it's rumored all 3 turned down higher offers from the Packers, to go to FA overvaluing their market and ended up taking less than what they turned down).
