Dude was all world, and his career ended IMHO for no good reason. An acupuncturist could have solved that "neck bulge" in a matter of maybe 3 weeks. No need for surgery, no need for his career to end. And it made me fucking sick to my stomach.

Many of you know Im a chiropractor and just wanted to add to Nerdmann's statement.
An athlete tends to be easier to treat then a 'average' person. Approx 65% of the people I see suffer with disc bulges; very common. 'They' say that if you would MRI random people with no symptoms that 30% would show a bulge.
We didnt get much info on collins but I recall that there were no neurological deficits and I dont even know if there were much in the way of symptoms. I dont know what that MRI would of shown for them to push for surgery. I bet it didnt show much.
Weather its acupunture, chiropractic, physio ... whatever. Conservative care first then do something else. If I recall correctly surgery was done soon after the injury (week - cant remember if it was a week with collins or finley or both).
This is my word for the people that did it and recommended it. Ruining a pro-bowl safety's career - Butchers
