Khyri Thorton | Defensive End | Southern Miss | 6'3" - 304 lbs.

OVERVIEW
Played defensive tackle and fullback as a Florida prep. Attended Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia for one year. Originally committed to South Florida but was denied entry to the school despite meeting NCAA qualifying requirements. Enrolled instead at Southern Mississippi, redshirting in 2009. Played all 13 games in 2010 and recorded 17 tackles, five tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. In 2011, he appeared in 14 games, starting seven at defensive tackle, and tallied 24 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks with one pass batted and one forced fumble. Was Southern Miss’ primary defensive tackle in 2012, playing in 12 games (11 starts) and totaling 36 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and one sack with one pass batted, one interception and one forced fumble. Started 11 games in 2013 and had 39 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and one-half sack. In the Golden Eagles' home finale Nov. 23 against Middle Tennessee, he suffered a deep bone bruise to his right leg that caused some internal bleeding and was not able to play the following week. Team captain.

STRENGTHS Flashes shock in his hands. Solid anchor strength. Versatile and lines up all along the front. Flashes speed and short-area burst to flatten down the line and close to the ball. Three-year starter.

WEAKNESSES Has short arms and small hands. Could do a better job working off blocks, creating separation and protecting his legs. Tends to wear down and tire late in games and effort wanes. Needs to develop more pass-rush moves -- stays blocked too long. Relies too much on his upper-body strength. Can be late to locate the ball and needs to do a better job of feeling blocking pressure and anticipating. Misses a lot of tackles. Minimal sack production.

DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 5-6

BOTTOM LINE Has the size, brute strength and enough agility to warrant interest as a developmental, rotational five-technique in an aggressize, zone-blitzing scheme such as the Jets, Ravens or Steelers. Versatility is a plus.

Wow. Looks like my kind of defender on the line. OK. Never heard of him, but I'm liking this pick.

I didn't see a lot of him, as I don't have a lot of Southern Miss in my Library. But from what I saw, he reminded me a bit of Mike Daniels.

Remember the turds the Sherminator use to draft? Yeah, I'll wait to see this guy on the field before I pull a Zero.

0-3, TT. Getting progressively worse, which I guess make sense as better talent available higher. This is one of my least favorite Packers drafts in recent memory. I'm just stunned in such a deep draft this is what we've got to show for our first 3 picks.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Seems to have very similar combine numbers as Josh Boyd, and seems to be almost identical body type.

Zero2Cool (13h) : Suppose if locker room is main issue, we sitting pretty
wpr (14h) : I thought so Mucky. In those useless player polls GB always rates high overall. Locker is a part of it.
Mucky Tundra (14h) : Wasn't the locker room just updated like 6 or 7 years ago?
Zero2Cool (15h) : I have forum updated on different site. We'll see how this one goes before going to that
Zero2Cool (15h) : Elgton Jenkins has a back injury, is expect to end contract dispute
wpr (18h) : It's funny the PA complained about the locker room. It wasn't that long ago it was top shelf. Things change in a hurry.
wpr (18h) : The site is much more better.
Zero2Cool (18h) : NFLPA report said Packers lockerroom needed upgrade. Whining bout where you change?
Zero2Cool (18h) : I saw that and thought it was kind of lame.
dfosterf (18h) : Packers new locker room is pretty awesome. Great for morale, imo
Zero2Cool (18h) : Shuffled things on the web server. Hope it makes it faster.
Zero2Cool (19h) : Other times, it's turtle ass
Zero2Cool (19h) : Sometimes it's snappy, like now.
beast (20h) : I feel like it's loading at the top of the next minute, or something like that.
beast (20h) : Also the thanks/heart takes FOREVER to load, and posting in the shout box takes three times FOREVER!
beast (20h) : Thanks for saying something, I thought it was slow, but assumed it was on my end
beast (20h) : Thanks for saying something, I thought it was slow, but assumed it was on my end
Zero2Cool (20h) : Yeah, I noticed that too. Is it slow for PackerPeople.com too?
wpr (20h) : I don't know what you IT guys call it but the page loading is very slow for me today.

Mucky Tundra (22-Jul) : Same deal with the songs/videos thread, says you replied last but when I go there it's what I posted earlier is last
Zero2Cool (22-Jul) : I had to manually move three posts.
Mucky Tundra (22-Jul) : But when I go it, Martha's is the last reply
Mucky Tundra (22-Jul) : Still a little screwy; it shows on the main forum that you were the last person to reply to the Jenkins trade thread
Zero2Cool (22-Jul) : Host issues, been crazy day
