Trading up to number 8 would require a Lawrence Welk trade.

I would rather have Datone Jones and Matt Flynn (backup) than just Geno Smith (backup).

Rodgers sat for three years. He has anywhere between 5 - 8 really really good years left in him.

If Uncle teddy did trade up he could not give up 2 3rd rounders for him. At least not 2 2014 3rd round picks. The second 3rd round pick is a comp and is not tradeable.

That said Mack may be the guy.

The cost would be steep and a move like this ignores issues at positions where not adding talent would be a mistake.

It would easily take out or 2nd and 3rd round picks other than the 3rd round comp pick. I see no team changing player at 8 worth passing on the talent that's in this draft.

Everyone hates the Value Calculators but the #8 is rated higher than the 21,53 and 85 spots combined. Still and all I would make the move if I could get three picks in the first 85 if I were the vikies. Thing is why would Uncle Teddy EVER make a deal with them and give them so many players?

What do you think about Ted trading the future for the #1 overall pick?

Taking it a step further, I accepted The Packers offer and who did they take?

Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo

I'm not sure about this game anymore. 😆

Seems like the sure thing though going with Mack over Clowney. That's a lot to give up, but could easily be a future HOF player.

I don't think it will ever happen, but sure would make the 1st 15 minutes of the draft exciting, then we all could just sit back and wait for late Friday night.

I wouldn't mind moving up for the right player, I also wouldn't mind trading the pick away and using the acquired picks to max out on 2nd and 3rd rounders. The team doesn't have room for high volume of picks, we need more quality instead.

... straight from the horse's mouth. Of course he was referencing comp picks in this discussion, but I kind of feel this is his general philosophy. Friday should be a very big day for us.

If Ted does stay at #21, I think we will know it is for the opportunity to select one of a handful of players they have rated very high. I would guess that player will be very special. I don't think he keeps the 21 for anything but what he feels is the surest player to help the Packers.

I can easily see him trading out.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
