To be fair to McCarthy, he has the youngest roster in the league for the 3rd straight year.

It isn't as if McCarthy jumps up and down, begging Ted to give him the youngest roster in the NFL to work with. A lot of the players are in their first couple of seasons, and are still getting adjusted to the NFL speed, the detail, and the sheer volume of the Defensive calls.

Mistakes happening over and over again with a youngster, especially in the NFL, isn't totally unheard of. I think all Mike McCarthy can do is pretty much keep working to over come that, and have the vets like Driver be an example of where working on the basics, getting the fundamentals down to a second nature will lead you.

The same mistakes shouldn't be happening in week 16 that were in week 1. I don't completely buy into the young team argument. In 2006 the ten youngest teams had a .531 winning percentage and four made the playoffs. In 2007, the ten youngest had a .606 winning percentage, five made the playoffs. The 06 Colts (3rd youngest) and 07 Giants (8th) were both in those sets, and both won a title. Youth can be a factor, but well coached youth can perform.

The same thing I said about Thompson is how I feel about McCarthy. I have an open mind, but something needs to be done and for Thompson I think he needs to make a move in free agency and for McCarthy I think he needs to make changes to his staff and specifically Bob Sanders as I've said over and over, but for the most part this off season has potential to be a great one or the one that leads to an end of a regime. We'll see what happens.
