There is massive money spent in the first week to ten days of free agency. I don't want the Packers any part of it unless it is another Reggie White type player. It is insane some of these deals we are seeing. Maybe large portions are signing bonuses that will be prorated? Either way, a free agent is a free agent for a reason.

I'm looking for the Packers to grab someone on the DL that's more of a tier 2 talent and will pay him tier 3 money. The Packers aren't a future hall of famer away from being legit Super Bowl threats. They are a few average to good defensive starters away.

GB will be much better on D ONLY if they get better production out of Perry, Mathews, D. Jones, Hayward, Burnett, Worthy, etc., coupled with better talent at ILB and Safety.

I think they feel Hyde can move to Safety and be a significant upgrade there. Getting Shields and Hayward back certainly allows this to happen without cutting them short. I think Lattimore is a name to watch at ILB this year.

This is a deep draft and Ted Thompson can add better talent where they are thin at Safety, OLB, ILB, and the DL. There is still time to add FA's that would accomplish this as well. This will help prevent a drop off when guys do go down. Capers was left with a 7th round pick and undrafted player to replace Perry and Mathews. I believe those two produced 0 sacks during in those games.

The main deal here is that the Packers CANNOT once again lead the league in games missed by starters due to injury. If the weekly Injury Report stays manageable this D will play at a higher level then the last couple of seasons.

However, they do not even get into the Super Bowl without their FA acquisitions, like Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Chris Clemons. The two players they traded for, Marshawn Lynch and Percy Harvin were instrumental in their winning the Super Bowl as well, Lynch in helping them get there and Harvin closing the deal with some remarkable runs, a catch and the return for a TD that literally stuck a knife in DEN's heart to start the 2nd half, up 22-0, making it 29-0. 137 yds on his 1st four touches, plus the score. Remarkable, game changing plays by an incredible play maker. I don't like admitting that, but he is. And, they went out and got him along with the others mentioned, and they won it all.

You must have some top playmakers at key positions to win it all. We have a few in Rodgers, Lacy, Nelson, Cobb, Matthews. But, it pretty much stops there. We need more.

Couldn't agree more with you on the injury front and our needs for real player availability moving forward.

As for the question of WHEN? Yesterday would have been a good time - or the day before. The point being, most of the good ones are gone now, especially at Safety - the thing we need the most.

But I agree, there is time to get some FA that can fill some areas, and allow Ted to draft the best players available in a deep draft. Resulting in a better team both today and down the road.

Not sure who, but I would like to see maybe 3 Dlineman brought in to create serious competition in the trenches and create a deep rotation of bodies to cycle through and keep fresh.
