This is a guy who sure would look good in a Packers uniform this coming season:

LB Vincent Rey

The good: If there is a quintessential "locker room guy," Rey is it. He's well-liked by his teammates, well-respected by his coaches and admired around Cincinnati. The fact that he has gone from undrafted special teams player to rising backup linebacker star is a testament to Rey's attitude and work ethic. When Mike Zimmer was still the Bengals defensive coordinator, he spoke often about how Rey would be among those putting in extra time studying opponents' film and breaking down his own play. Because of that, more often than not, Rey was in the right position to make plays in 2013 when he was needed following an injury to middle linebacker Rey Maualuga. Posting a career high in tackles (47), sacks (4) and interceptions (2), Rey had the most productive year defensively of his career.

The bad: Rey has been the unfortunate recipient of poor timing when it comes to playing on defense. Since he's been in Cincinnati, there's been a "Mike" (middle) or "Will" (outside) linebacker listed on the depth chart ahead of him, forcing him to focus the majority of his attention on standing out on special teams. That actually hasn't been a bad thing. The more he has impressed on special teams, the more he has earned opportunities to play defensively when they present themselves. It's just that with commitments to Maualuga and Vontaze Burfict, it has been tough for him to see much starting action.

His anticipated future role: If he remains in Cincinnati, Rey's future role won't change much from what it has been. Again, Maualuga and Burfict will be getting the bulk of opportunities ahead of him, and a healthy Emmanuel Lamur will be playing often as an extra coverage linebacker in most pass-defense packages. Still, you have to imagine that if the Bengals are able to hold on to Rey that they will have a number of plays drawn up that will get him onto the field. Not only did he impress Zimmer, but he also impressed the other defensive coaches who are still on staff, namely former linebackers coach Paul Guenther, who is the team's new defensive coordinator. Special teams have always been a key part of Rey's game in the NFL and will continue to be if he returns to Cincinnati.

Try to keep him? Rey most certainly will field offers from other teams not only because of how well he played in all of 2013, but particularly because of how he looked in relief of Maualuga across a four-game, mid-season stretch. Cincinnati likely will have to hand over more cash than the $1.4 million tender they offered him, but will only be forced to do so if indeed it plans on matching a higher offer another team makes. Last year's depth hit at linebacker proved a team can never have too many contributing players at that position. When Lamur went down at the end of the preseason with his season-ending injury, the Bengals' linebacker plans were thrown into disarray. They already were missing rookies Sean Porter and Brandon Joiner because of injuries. So, before ultimately signing veteran Michael Boley to a one-year contract in Week 5, they tested out using defensive back Taylor Mays in some Nickel packages as an extra cover player of sorts. In order to keep depth at the position, it would behoove the Bengals to keep a player like Rey who they feel they can trust.

Man, I wish he could be thrown Brad Jones' money... Rey could be had for a decent contract, with zero draft compensation to CIN, should the Bengals refuse to match. Maybe that is a game Ted does not wish to play... but, it sure would be nice to see him steal this player away from the Bengals. A quality veteran who won't break the bank and wants his shot as a starter.

We have definitely been lacking some explosion from our MLB, Hawk is a good tackler, but it would be awesome to have someone beside him who is an athletic freak of nature causing havoc.

Now this is the type of FA signing I can really get behind. Not too many miles on him. Special teams capable. Not too much money. He could end up being our 'Bennett'!

I don't know if this guy is it or not, but pairing somebody good and athletic with the reliable old war horse, Hawk, would really be a recipe for improvement.

I don't really see a huge difference between this guy and 2012 Brad Jones.

Zero2Cool (7h) : And now some Packers blogger is like Doubs to Steelers makes sense!!!!

beast (7h) : Supposedly Steelers will be trading WR George Pickens to the Cowboys for a 3rd and late round pick swap
Zero2Cool (5-May) : Ravens release Justin Tucker, err D. Watson Jr?

Martha Careful (5-May) : Yes, in the military S2’s work on IPB, PERCEC, PHYSEC and IO
dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Packers did not activate the fifth-year options for linebacker Quay Walker, with the goal of signing him to a contract extension.

Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Cowboys 1st round pick Tyler Booker will indeed be bringing his pet turtle to Dallas with him
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : that contained all prospects info and contact
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : beast, according the Falcons statement Jax came across it on an ipad. If I had to guess, probably an open spread sheet or something
Zero2Cool (27-Apr) : Simmons put up an emoji with cheese.
beast (27-Apr) : Not sure anyone is interested in Isaiah Simmons... Collin Oliver might of taken his potential slot
beast (27-Apr) : I'm going with Jax Ulbrich is not telling the whole truth... he accidentally came across it? Why would a defensive coordinator have a QB #?
Zero2Cool (27-Apr) : He's not that great, but final piece of the script.\
Zero2Cool (27-Apr) : If we add Isaiah Simmons, book your Super Bowl tickets
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Colts 1st round TE Tyler Warren also got prank called, was that Jax Ulbrich as well?
Zero2Cool (27-Apr) : Jax Ulbrich, Jeff Ulbrich’s son, released an apology for his role in the Shedeur Sanders prank call.
Martha Careful (27-Apr) : apparently he did not participate in practice or play on the east west shrine game nor the NFL combine. The kid was a mediocre spoiled brat
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Yeah that one that was a super wounded duck that Sanders supporters are highlighting to prove a point
Zero2Cool (27-Apr) : Shough is the guy who missed guys at combine isn't he?
