Most GM's, especially Ted Thompson, also gets some nice value on certain players, so it comes out in the wash, somewhat. Sometimes it can be worth it to overpay a little though, but certainly not all the time.

I don't see the fuss over Jones since he didn't get enough money that even if we cut him right now we wouldn't be hurting. I see people complain about Burnett a lot too but when he signed that deal his 2011/2012 seasons were every bit as good as some of the S that people are wanting Ted to sign and are getting similar deals. He just had a down year compared to his previous years for whatever reason.

It's like a kick in the ass every time one of these guys like Ward gets signed elsewhere. Come on, Ted, reel in Byrd. We can certainly afford him.

Uh, nevermind.

Well, we'll just have to see who they slap together back there and hope for the best. We still have a lot of dough to make a splash somewhere else if Ted so chooses. I just happen to think it is time we hit on a key veteran acquisition at a position of need. We are too young, and we have been for years. We need experienced, high quality play and leadership on this team.

I'm very disappointed Ted let Byrd hit NO. He is one player in FA that we really, really could have used. Now, we will be forced to draft a S in R1 or R2 out of need, letting other potential game breaking players slip away to our competition.

Or, does Sean Richardson make a splash next season? I guess there is our hope. It is pretty much all we've got.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
