A roundup of what's happening on the Green Bay Packers beat.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- For much of the second half of this past season, when the Packers were going through the weekly drama of whether or not quarterback Aaron Rodgers would return from his collarbone injury, general manager Ted Thompson politely declined interview requests.

Unlike some GMs, Thompson also does not regularly hold a season wrap-up press conference.

So it was during a short interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio, on location at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

well he didn't say a whole lot in this interview either.

it looks like he will not be very active in the FA market once again but that is not much of a surprise.

The guy is ALWAYS so calm and measured. Really quite incredible, the consistency of this trait.

I'm sure he has seen what is calling out to be done to make us more competitive across the board, and we'll just have to wait and see how and if it happens. A funny thing occurred to me while in the midst of all these Thompson discussions, and where the blame lies within our organization for its failures. Imagine if our team was actually healthier, and how some of those top players drafted (and others) may have fared had they not been injured… That has to weigh into the discussion of Thompson's abilities in leading this Packers team, and his methods/philosophies in acquiring talent.

I would change out Mark Lovat's entire staff asap. Doesn't Ted Thompson, as GM, share some responsibility to see this area of our team is really addressed in the best way possible? Shouldn't this be top of the list? As a fan, I'm just hoping something positive, proactive, takes place to make our team healthier and more available, more ready on game days.

We've all seen what players like Nick Perry, Clay Matthews, Casey Hayward, etc. can do when healthy, but they are injured so often. Are they bad players? No. Poor draft selections? Well, if they continue to be out of action during important points/stretches of our seasons, they may be construed as such. Datone's injury adversely affected his start in GB. Bulaga's injuries have taken him out of nearly two full seasons, as have Sherrod's. Morgan Burnett was hindered to start this season. James Starks was slowed in his start to the season. Two draft picks at WR couldn't even compete for positions… Another draft pick (Tretter) wiped out for the year in a simple TC drill.

Yes, injuries happen. Bone breaks are simple, mostly unpredictable catastrophes for any team. But, we've had this stuff going on for more than 4 years running, and over those 4-6 years, we've ranked as one of the worst teams in the NFL for adjusted games lost to injury. I'd rather see them attempt something new, proactive vs. maintaining the status quo, chalking it up to bad luck on the injury front.
