One of the topics that came up during the proceedings was the future of linebacker Terrell Suggs with the organization.

He has a $12.4 million cap number in 2014, the final year of his contract with the Ravens, and Ozzie Newsome said Wednesday that the team needs to discuss what to do about the longtime fixture on their defense.

Dude had 80 Tackles and 10 Sacks, in his 11th season. Might be too old, but he could certainly help this D.

Are we talking about making a trade and basically ASSUMING that $12.4 million cap number? a big no way to that! Or are we talking about Suggs being cut and we sign him for something reasonable, in which case, the question becomes HOW reasonable? and how much does he have left in the tank?

I like Suggs, but goes all the way back to the Nick Barnett draft. That's a long time ago.

In all due respect to Terrell Suggs, he's 31 and a very big name who would probably get top dollar... also he's not a FA, and Ravens might be looking for a trade partner and Ted Thompson isn't going to trade and pay him that kind of money (unless it was a 6th or 7th round pick... maybe 5th but I doubt it).

I doubt the Packers signed a top OLB unless they're given up on Perry...

If we're looking for FA OLB I'd look towards Steelers OLB Jason Worilds ... first off I believe the Steelers are already tight to the cap next year which means they got do a lot of talking to their vet players getting them to take less or cut some of them. And I read an article which suggest they don't believe they'll be able to afford to keep both Jason Worilds and LaMarr Woodley ... problem is Worilds played better this season but Woodley is already has his new deal... so do they bite the bullet cut Woodley wasting cap space to get the better players back, or let the better player walk and save cap space?

Anyways

Jason Worilds will be 26 next year, had 8 sacks and two forced fumbles this year... 5 sacks this year... Worilds started in 11 games, played in 15.

LaMarr Woodley will be 29 for start of next year... had 5 sacks last year and 4 sacks the year before that with a forced fumble in each year. Woodly started in 11, played only 11... he has played in at least 10 games each year but hasn't played in 16 since 2010.

Would you trade a 6th round pick for Suggs? I might.

The Packers already have apprx. 25 mil. committed to the LBr position for 2014, jmho, there is only so much money to go around.

That doesn't include Mike Neal, Francois or Lattimore.

I think Francois is gone, but do think Ted will make an effort to resign Neal and Lattimore.

Neither should break the bank, so those expecting ted to go after a Big Name FA LBr are probably going to be disappointed.
