Grant lost out on 1.5million

Grant could have earned a $1.5 million bonus if he reached 1,250 yards for the season. He only earned $500,000 for finishing with 1,203. Grant also could have earned another $600,000 for placing in the top five among NFC rushers. Grant finished sixth 35 yards behind Matt Forte of the Bears to pocket $150,000.

Yeah, thats the way the ball bounces, Grant said. I told (running backs coach Edgar Bennett), If we were playing in your day, thats a touchdown. No replay.

If not mistaken that money had to be counted towards the cap when the contract was signed so it was allocated for every bonus.

So its not like it was a surprise if they would have paid him..

So for the bonuses he did not get, that money will be pushed onto next years cap as an extra amount.

It does seem very odd that they took him out for the last series tho when he was close.

Andrew Brandt commented on it saying that is why he never allowed coaches to know any performance based incentives in a players contract

That is interesting to me, since more and more things he is letting out is making me think he had a bigger hand with paying players ( free agents and etc, ) than Ted did

Perhaps I am naive, but I don't think coaches think about that kind of stuff during the game. Their sole focus is trying to win.

I do know that in the past Ted has received reports on stats DURING games

As my god son used to hand him the actual stat reports

I think it was more trying to get a good look at Deshawn Wynn because he hasn't had much game action this season. Also he was having a better game.

i dont care how many yards Ryan Grant got this year. He wasn't consistent or effective in any game this year. He didn't deserve that extra cash.

He can prove he was worth it next year.

I dont think the coaches pay attention to that stuff either, and i think had they realized it they probably would have tried to get him in.

First I think it actually was only an additional million. He already got the 500K for breaking 1000.

Besides the fact that McCarthy was on record before the game in his press conferences last week that he was going to get Wynn more touches. Having the lead late in the game being a perfect time for that.

Grant had plenty of opportunity to get his bonus through the season. He didn't. I don't really want to run him to rack up yards just to get it.

IMO Grant did not earn that extra bonus. If you break it down, 1250 yards is only 78 per game. He didn't get that so to bad for him. Lets use that million next year.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Coaches pay attention to those stats just like Peyton was aware of how many yards Brees needed and so did the rest of the team. I'm sure the coaches knew how many yards AP needed to win the title. Every year you hear about this. I personally think they could have done that to Grant kind of a that will teach you to hold out on us payment.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Can Grant pay back some money for fumbling on our 10 yard line? I'm with Pacnic on this subject. 1200 yards is a good year, but I felt he left a lot of yards on the field between poor vision and TNS.

I think we'd be naive to assume the coaches don't have a grasp on their players' stats, considering everyone from the fans in the seats to the commentators keep close tabs on them.

Considering I have been outspokenly critical of Grant from day one for holding out after half a season of solid work, I have no problem with the coaches finding "creative" ways to deny Grant his bonuses -- provided these subtle impediments didn't in any way endanger the Packers' chances of winning the game, of course. I never thought the Packers should have caved into Grant's demands of bonuses after 1000 yards (which is only an average season for a primary starting back nowadays), so saving some of that ill-gotten gain for next season seems like a solid business decision to me.
