So, I guess this data points to everything being just fine in our Strength & Conditioning Dept….

"Adjusted Games Lost is a great metric that helps to ascertain the real impact of injuries on a team. In short, it gives teams credit not only for the actual games missed by starters, but for the consequences of injuries in terms of lost practice time and diminished performance.

Anytime a starer is ruled out, a team gets credit for one game lost. The team gets partial credit for games in which a starter is ruled probable, questionable or doubtful based on averages for how often these players actually play.

It doesn't point to either way.

So all this does is give an "atta boy" to teams that won a game when a starter was out, but says nothing about HOW those starters were out, which is what PFWT and I are trying to get at. None of us know what happens with the Packers' strength/conditioning.

You continue to ignore the nature of the injuries.

What should the program do different? What does it do wrong? You say hire the best conditioning coach available, how do you know we don't have the best?

I watched a few of the practices this summer and documented how poorly the Packers were stretching. They were going through the motions, not actually stretching. I do NOT believe conditioning is the cause for the injuries or directly correlated. However, I do think improper stretching does lead to pulled muscles such as hamstrings.

I also attribute the NFL wide increase in injuries to the the dramatically less contact players can experience via practice.

We expect players to go full speed in a violent sport with a minimalist preparation? I feel that is wrong. You often hear about players not being in football shape, well, with the regulations, how are players supposed to get into adequate football shape?

To exaggerate the point I'm making. You don't swim 2 two miles over and over and over again to prepare yourself to swim 30 miles.

I agree though, that the practice restrictions have had an negative impact as far as injuries, along with resulting in poor fundamental play.

After all these are professionals that have been working out and conditioning themselves for the majority of their lives. They know how to keep themselves in shape. Some might get lazy and not stretch as they should, Others like Clay may be prone to certain injuries.

Injuries happen. They just happen to us far to often but to say it's strength and conditioning is absurd IMO.

Mathews breaks his thumb on a sack.
Arod breaks a collarbone getting landed on.
Cobb breaks a bone getting low balled.
Perry breaks his foot.

How in the world is any conditioning program going to prevent these injuries from happening? It can't and it won't.

Now if the players are not in shape that's one thing. If the strength portion got them all bulked up where they had range of motion issues and muscle tears, then sure.
