The last two times the Packers defense has faced the 49ers, things have not gone well for them. Last January, the 49ers ran all over Green Bay and took a 45-31 playoff win as a result. In Week One this season, it was the passing game that that propelled them to a 34-28 victory. In...

How many years does Dom have left on his contract... does it matter? Mulumba and Neal. You give Dom Capers these guys at arguably the most important position in a 3-4 defense. Loaded statement I know. I want to see something more from these two. Right now Dom Capers is playing with half a deck of cards...

I don't care who the coach is, that group is gonna fall apart some unless MAYBE you got studs at CB and ILB... and that Packers don't (though they're not half bad).

Also something I noticed the defense played a lot worse without Rodgers... and I forget where but someone looked at points given up where Rodgers finished the game and the defense numbers were much much better... I'm guessing because Rodgers takes up longer drives and keeps the defense off the field more? also because the Packers defense did seem to quit at times with out Rodgers.

But just last year the Packers were 11th in points scored against (and would of been 9th if they called the "Fail Mary" play correctly. But no body cares about all that good work because one game against the 49ers.

When Capers has good talent out there his defense are very very good. But the talent has been getting injured or hasn't been stepping up...

Am I actually getting some converts? These two very sensible previous posts seem to indicate a "yes".

All I can add is the inverse of the idea "When Capers has good talent out there his defense are very very good". If we didn't have that Capers scheming and creativity and compensation for bad personnel, we'd really be S.O.L.

None of this was even an issue - not an important issue, anyway, before Rodgers got hurt and we were winning games anyway by outscoring teams. The issue seemed to get a lot less hot just last week when Rodgers came back, and guess what, we outscored 'em. But now we are faced with an opponent that twice we haven't been able to outscore.

Capers ain't the problem; Personnel is the problem, and Capers is like the kid with his finger in the hole in the dike, keeping that problem from messing up everything.

This article just showed up in the news forum, it explains a lot.

The D needs to tighten up, an by all means they don't get as pass in some games, but to say Dom needs to be replaced, and that will solve the problem, is just a little excessive.

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/dom-capers-recipe-for-defensive-success-gets-tweaked-b99175935z1-238548621.html

I will throw in for Sundays game, The offense needs to play error free football, no early turnovers, putting the D in a bas situation.

Always remember, "3 PHASES" to the game, Offense, Defense, Special Teams.

I don't like Dom OR what he has to work with.

Both Ted and Dom are not helping the D at all.

As for Capers, his pattern is clear. It's been the same everywhere he's worked.

If Capers pulls something out of his ass for the playoffs, I'll be the happiest guy around. I thought the D played pretty decently against the Bears. But that doesn't change Dom's history.

Defense must have its best game of the year? That's not setting the bar all that high.

Last years playoff game, and this year. The TEAM gave the game away. 3 turnovers resulting in 21 points. Both times either offense or ST gave the 49ers momentum. Defense is by default at a disadvantage to begin with, the other two phases of the team helping the other team doesn't do our defense any favors. In reality in both of those matchups the defense played well enough to keep us in the game even with those errors. Take them away and it is likely we win both of them.

The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Zero2Cool (11h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (12h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
