"Hanging tough: For all the struggles the Packers had on defense through the first three quarters of the game, it can’t be neglected that what gave them any prayer of coming back was holding the Cowboys to so many field goals.

Dallas settled for five field goals from K Dan Bailey, four of them from 45 yards and out. The biggest stand came after an interception by QB Matt Flynn gave the Cowboys the ball on the Green Bay 20-yard line late in the second quarter, but a sack by Mike Daniels forced a three-and-out.

All part of a ballgame. Defense kept The packers in the game until The offense caught fire, then it was game on.

They sure showed up for the second half in all three phases of the game. What they did to Dallas was nothing short of scary. Oh what I would give to see a full 60 with that effort!

I cannot say enough about Lacy and Mike Daniels. These are guys that just go to war every down. A couple plays stuck out but Jordy taking the ball for the touchdown was huge.

I believe romo saw a coverage that would call for pass and saw a chance. He failed at execution. Simple as that.

I saw Capers try the same trick in the first half and it failed big time giving the Cowboys a big play, which I think ended up inside the 5 yard line, which ended up leading to a touchdown.

Does this mean it's the players and not the coaches after all? (or at the very least some of both).

Of course it does!!! But I just want to say big ups to Sam Shields. He has earned a contract.

Sure seems like the defense responds to how the offense is playing, especially in the last couple of games.

Last two games combined:

Points scored first half: 13 points
Points allowed first half: 40 points

Points scored second half: 46 points
Points allowed in second half: 10 points

The Shields INT was a great play by Sam. As Aikman said earlier when Sam broke up a long pass, with his world class speed he can close really fast to make plays. If you not on his pick he was actually beat at the start and if Romo throws it on 1 step instead of 3 (letting matthews bother him) it is a catch. On the last pick watch the receiver he actually stops his route and Tramon actually caught the ball. To bad he couldn't catch the 1st one he had a chance at 🙂
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Romo was the one who audibled to a pass (which could have been a big play, in fact). Execution, and thus player accountability is a part of the equation too.

Romo himself is Favre's mini-me. He's no prize either.

99.9% of the time Coaches call plays they think will work and that other .1% is when nothing else is working and they simply say what the hell lets try this. Its the same with audibles. QBs are not going to change the play to something they don't think will work. Despite what fans think, players and coaches are not in the game to try to lose on purpose.

Now we all know that these plays don't always work and that is when we complain about them. The thing is, had Romo completed that pass NO ONE would be complaining about the fact that he audibled out of a run. I'm talking about that one specific play and not the fact that they didn't run enough in the second half in general whoever was to blame for that.

Your point about the other guys getting paid to play is also spot on. Sometimes you do everything right and the other guy just makes the play. Your QB calls an audible and a defensive player makes an incredible play and intercepts the ball, now all of a sudden your QB is an idiot. Had the defensive player not mad an incredible play and your QB had completed an 80 yard TD pass to seal the win he would have been a genius.

They may be calling plays that they think will work but the bigger question becomes what on earth made you think that play would work? Its not the play that is stupid it is thinking that it will work that is stupid.
