As I just wrote an article on what the backup quarterback plan should be for next year, especially given it's near disastrous results, I thought to myself, 'What about the Green Bay Packers' defense? What about the coach for next year?' Do not take this as a call for Dom Capers' head. While

I hope Capers is fired, I just don't see it coming.

I'm based on just one game: San Francisco, with all the time in the world to plan the game I can't accept what happened, specially after seeing how Kapernick played against the other teams.

I would like to see Kevin Greene step up to DC, he seems to be able to get most of his players.

Capers really should have been gone before this year. Assuming there is an ounce of talent on the defensive roster, I really cannot imagine the D doing worse under anyone else. Our mistakes are always so costly.

Should Dom Capers be the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator in 2014?

If your defense has declined this bad from last year, if your defense has been inconsistent as fuck for the last 3 years, why would you bring him back? I don't get it if they bring him back.. Even if it is the players, we need to change something. If something's broke, by all means try to fix it.. Don't keep breaking it.

I don't claim to be an NFL caliber coach/staff member, but I do have experience playing safety - and from what I have seen, their coverage schemes are being played wrong, or the guys working the playcalling are dropping the ball.

It is disturbing how many potential turnovers they have dropped - many of which could have been caught by average Joe. Maybe James Jones should share his secret with them - remember how buttery his hands used to be?

Some of the problems are indeed on Capers, but others can be blamed on the guys on the field and coaching staff. If I was a DB coach - I would be breathing fire! My point being that Dom is high on the blame list, but I don't think simply replacing him is going to fix everything - there are other staff members that need a boot in their ass.

I'm in the minority, at least for now, because at this moment in time I am not in the fire Dom group.

The bottom line is something has to change. Right now our secondary is the lauging stock of the NFL.

Injuries haven't helped, but I just see a unit which lacks leadership and confidence. I personally would like to see a Coordinator on the sideline who can motivate the troops when needed. Without Rodgers putting up 30 this group can't get it done. I still say the big mistake was not properly addressing the Safety position when we lost Collins. Maybe the value was not there or they thought the loss could be solved in-house, but our Safety play has been terrible and the deep middle-of-the-field catches are getting painful to watch. It is funny to see that we lead the league in sacks, but we must also lead the league in giving up 1st downs on 3rd and 10+ yards because it doesn't seem to matter that we move the team back when we constantly give up big plays over the middle.

The problem I have with Dom is that the guys don't know who to cover. And the DL haven't been maintaining their gaps. I mean get your shit together dude. Season's been on the brink for weeks.

And why hasn't Hyde gotten any snaps at S? Is Richardson the answer? Banjo? Find someone who can play.
