As for Coleman, I don't know if he got rattled or what - that seems doubtful, but even so, it is easily curable/teachable, and he had the arm of an NFL QB. Lack of arm strength, lack of size, and it seemed like even lack of speed like Wallace is not curable. The guy was just worthless (I'm still open to being proved wrong on that if we are unfortunate enough to have him start against the Eagles, but I don't think there's much chance he will be any good). As for Vince Young, he could make plays running, and he clearly threw the ball extremely better than Wallace, even though he was rusty and not on target like he should be. At least he had the arm strength that there was hope. Maybe the Packers staff knew something about drugs or mental problems that never came out to the public, I don't know, but he ran like Kaepernick at times in the preseason, and combining that alone with Lacy's running probably would have been enough to beat the Bears, not to mention, he's tall enough to throw over Julius Peppers.

As for ties to Texas, I don't give a damn about that, especially U.T. - my roots are in Wisconsin - the Badgers. Tolzien? There you may have a point.

Wallace vs Chicago looked 10x better than Coleman ever has.

I don't remember the preseason all that well, but I don't remember Vince Young knocking anybody's socks off. Is it possible you favor him because of his ties to Texas? The same as some posters who (unconsciously or consciously) favor former Badgers?

You really think so, Steve? Better than Coleman? 10xbetter? Uh I'm afraid we are gonna have another opportunity to find out against the Eagles. 😞

Unless Seneca Wallace has an absolute horror show, I can envision a dogged approach to making it work until he is back.

And it makes sense too.

as g.p.g said, more often than not, throwing someone in on very little source evidence fails most of the time.

I hope Wallace gets' his chance, and if he screws up, NEXT MAN UP!

Somebody said Wallace was good as a starter in the past?

6 wins, 15 losses is his record - and that was before sitting out most of two years.

How did Ted Thompson ever stick us with this lemon?

Wallace is very good at mimicking the opponent's QB, he has been doing that in practices since he joined the Packers to help prepare the defense. Unfortunately he's been practicing being Brandon Weeden and Christian Ponder instead of Tom Brady or Payton Manning. That was clear in the Bears' game.

He is now. He's gonna have weapons.

He will also have a week to take some reps with the starters. Could do him a world of good, although it is a short week.

I won't go so far as to say Wallace was the better choice since we have no way of knowing that but since we have no way of knowing that I also won't go so far as to say any of the other three would have been a better choice. Only gifted psychics (or is it psychos) know that.

When the whole Wallace experience is over the best we will be able to say regarding the choice Ted Thompson made for backup is that he was not the best choice (hopefully that won't be the case). Only guys like TPB will know for sure that one of the other guys would have been better.
