What if we mixed it up? Played some 3-4 and some 4-3 during games. I think it would confuse the opposing offenses. Also, we should get Desmond Bishop some playing time. The kid's a true player, and I love his big hits.

I think the biggest problem would be the quality we'd have out on the field.

We'd need some great blitzing LBs for the 3-4, two good DTs for the 4-3, more depth at LB than we have now.

Maybe since we run so much Nickel we could get an extra LB in there and take out a DT, but I wouldn't run two systems at once.

Well, if we got Brian Orakpo, he can be a DE and a LB.

Frankly, I think that would be a disaster - something very similar to having our o-line run the ZBS half the time.

our players struggle with executing one of the more basic 4-3 schemes in the NFL. I don't want to imagine how they'd struggle to execute a complex scheme like the 3-4.

I think the Packers should mix it up a little bit, but not play the 3-4 as their base defense. They just don't have the players to do that.

I am a big supporter of moving A.J. Hawk back to the weakside this off season and Nick Barnett to the strong side where he belongs. That means Desmond Bishop would start in the middle.

In dime situations I would keep Nick Barnett on the field as the linebacker.

In nickel situations I would keep Nick Barnett and Desmond Bishop on the field over A.J. Hawk.

These are changes I hope to see this off season on the defense and it's something that can be done from within.

Yes, I also think that is a good idea. Desmond Bishop is that hard hitter that we need on our defense. I just love the way he plays the game.
