Post your thoughts: who will be fired and/or cut, and how soon?

I think Stock and Sanders will both be gone, but not immediately. Not until suitable replacements have been found from outside the organization.

As far as players go, I can't think of anyone I'd cut immediately. Even Bush has value because he can back up corner and safety.

I won't get into specifics, but something has to give. I expect Sanders to be out, simply because this late into the season, we're having "communication" issues and coverage breakdowns.

That's inexcusable for a D that is in it's 4th year of a scheme. Simply terrible. Issues like problems with pre-snap reads and adjustments have popped up lately, and those shouldn't especially so late in the season.

Right now, I want Sanders to get the boot, along with a couple of position coaches (along the O-line).

A big part of me though expects McCarthy to stand pat, I think he'll stay true to his belief in his coaches and his vision, and resist the urge to make major changes.

Coaching Sanders and Stock are the biggest targets for the coaching cuts.

Player wise, I don't see Cole, Bush, Moll, Ruvell, Tauscher. Beyond that I will have to wait until FA and the Draft for further cuts.

It all depends on the market, but if another team offers Tauscher a 3yr/$15million dollar deal, do you really see Ted Thompson matching that?

Mike Montgomery is a FA who might get low-end starter money from another team. I think Ted Thompson would like to bring him back, but he won't overpay.

I'm curious about Al, but mainly because of the comments he made which aren't necessarily indicative of what management is thinking. Tramon could clearly start, but I think Al's salary is low enough to keep him around. I predict he'll be back.

Brady Poppinga will be another interesting one to watch. He's another UFA I think Ted Thompson would like to bring back, but if someone offers starter money, it doesn't make sense to get in a bidding war over him. Actually, I think he's gone regardless. Why spend even $1 million on a guy who could possibly be your 5th best linebacker?

I could also see Ruvell being cut after TC. This is assuming Ted Thompson drafts a WR he likes in round 4-7 who impresses in camp.

There are other who will go, but they're to insignificant to mention. We'll draft an O-lineman or two, which will be doom for Orrin Thompson or someone like that. Ditto goes for Jarrett Bush and Charlie Peprah.

Crap, miss-clicked and got the thanks button...

Anyway, I think Sanders is the obvious choice at this point.

I hear no one about the RB coach though, I know the blocking has been quite bad, and I don't support this idea, but with the struggles at the RB position, it seems to be very quiet on Bennett's position.

If we were to get rid of Ruvell, who would replace him? Having 5 WRs is a big part of our offense considering how much we go into 5 wide sets.

Mike McCarthy seems very loyal so it's tough to know who will go and who won't regarding the coaching staff. Bob Sanders and Mike Stock are the two obvious coaches that would and should be let go though.

Regarding players

I believe Mark Tauscher is going to be not retained.

I think Colin Cole will get starters money from another team so he'll leave.

As far as veterans being released. Chad Clifton seems like the first obvious candidate. He's really worn down in my opinion.

The other is Johnny Jolly and not because of his play. He played well the final month, but due to a possible suspension the Packers could choose to send a message. I do think it's unlikely though but possible.

Oh and regarding Brady Poppinga. I believe he was giving an extension prior the season beginning. In fact I know he did so he's safe.

I could see Brandon Chillar gone though. He wasn't given a lot of money and his cap hit would be minimal. They need to get Desmond Bishop on the field more and I think they know this by now.

we should get a good pick in the draft

I don't believe Harris will be cut, though I can see Thompson quietly floating him on the trade market to see what he's worth.

If Thompson drafts a quality receiver, I am confident Martin will be gone. His output this season was very low, partly because of injury and partly because the Packers game plan never seemed to include him. Given his extraordinarily high TD-to-catch ratio, though, I would think that there might be some trade value for him. I doubt he would be cut outright unless there were no other options.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
