I don't see it happening. Hakeem Nicks wants a huge contract and I don't see the Packers parting with a pick to rent a player for half the season. And Kenny Britt is just not the player some think he is.

If appears as if Jones will be back sooner rather than later, and possibly even Cobb (although I still wouldn't be surprised if he tore his ACL). Even without Cobb, that will give the Packers Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, James Jones, Finley, Lacy, Franklin, Boykin, and a few other role players. All things considering, that's still not too bad. It's not an elite core, but many QBs have played with worse. The biggest factor then becomes continuing to establish the running game, as they have been doing. While a really good running game might not be able to make up for the loss of Cobb completely, it can come close. A good running game plus the remaining weapons will still make it hard for most other teams to beat the Packers, especially with the defense playing well.

Nicks would certainly look good in Green and Gold, and the Packers could very well resign him instead of him going elsewhere for the long term, but I think he's a little over rated, anyway. Ted Thompson could probably do better, and for much cheaper, through the draft.

Kenny Britt would have to be a short term rental.. as the guy as a list of legal issues that seem to attach themselves to him.

9 Times Britt has been in trouble with Johnny Law since joining the league.. 9 times since 2009. And people are rubbed wrong by Finley's immaturity.. this guy would give them nightmares .

Nicks would be a short term rental because of his salary..

But Uncle Teddy seems to be wise in keeping a chunk of that salary cap open so that as the attrition wears on.. we have opportunities like these.. just don't know that either is the right fit for us. Long term anyway.

wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
Zero2Cool (24-Jun) : Yawn. Rodgers says he is "pretty sure" this be final season.
